Letters: Sarah Palin's new book

Underwhelmed

Regarding “Fact-checking ‘Going Rogue' ” (Page A4, Nov. 14), I was
underwhelmed by the article on the Associated Press investigation of
Sarah Palin's travel expenses. According to the article, Palin and her
daughter spent four nights in New York at a $700 per night hotel on a
trip that cost a total of $3,000, including air fare. A bit of simple
math says she managed to fly from Alaska to New York for several
hundred bucks. She must have had some coupons. Perhaps the Associated
Press will perform a similar analysis of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's
air travel costs. She has a government-provided Boeing 757 dedicated
to her travel needs. It burns more jet fuel taxiing than Palin's
entire trip cost.

Jack B. Holt, Spring

Disappointing

The most disappointing aspect of the attempt to play gotcha with Gov.
Sarah Palin's book was the fact that the example of “going rogue” with
the truth is one where she actually tells the truth. The governor says
that she did not “often” stay in “high-end, robe-and-slippers” hotels.
When I read that, I deduced that she might have stayed in such a hotel
at least once as she did not claim that she “never” stayed in such a
place.

Then you reveal the bombshell, and folks, this is dramatic. Palin once
stayed with her daughter at a luxury hotel for five days, which
brought her grand total for travel (including air fare) to more than
$3,000! It is clear that Palin is not ready for the White House after
all. She is going to have to learn how to squander taxpayer money in a
much bigger way if she aspires to the pinnacle of politics. When our
president jets off to New York for a few hours to go on a date with
the first lady for a price tag of several hundred thousand dollars on
the taxpayers' tab, that is presented as presidential good taste that
Americans should appreciate.

Finally, please remind me of the last time that the Chronicle reviewed
a liberal politician's book with an eye toward fact checking. I can't
remember seein

A million billion trillion dollars is "more than $3,000".

How much was it?

Qualified to do what?
Pray with witch doctors?
Destroy the enviroment?
Try to bring on the Rapture and Apocolypse?

Quit in her first term?

A few days ago, Oprah asked Sarah: "How come when Couric asked you
what newspapers or magazines you read, you refused to answer?"

Sarah: "Because she was too pushy".

Boy! Miracles never cease! A journalist trying to get an answer. Silly
me, I thought Couric was doing her job.

Incidentally: The Whore from Wasilla still hasn't answered the
question about her reading preferences.

I am guessing Cosmo -if she reads at all.

One thing is for sure: President Palin would not be qualified to
appoint a Science Adviser. The one appointed by GWB quit after the
White House gave some sort of support to creationism. The problem was
that they could not find a single respectable person of science to
accept the vacant job.

Nope, you are correct. Like a true Republicon, she is all about
herself.
You would have to have to have some ability for compassion and empathy
to hold a serious job like that.

Our founding fathers could be considered community organizers.

God forbid people should organize and stand up for themselves against
oppression.

Why does the Right hate America and Americans?

Newsmax, amongst others. And presidential qualifications are
subjective; it depends on who you ask. The framers of the
constitution were very wise to include only age and citizenship. They
left it up to the voters to decide on qualifications.. And the number
one qualification I look for, the make or break qualification, is: do
I trust this person to make the right decisions for my country. All
the rest is just bullshit. And In my book, no matter how much
education or so-called experience Obama has he would never be
qualified. But Sarah Palin is extremely qualified.

According to cornholio (ass-holio is a more descriptive term) and his

number, and therefore it subtracts from all the other qualifications
of President Obama:

- A Harvard Law degree
- Capable book author
- World Class Leadership
- Oratory skills not seen since JFK
- A Thinker, regardless of whether you agree with his ideas
- Admirable Personal life

The liberal media is very good at propaganda. It was over and over,
24 hours per day, newscasts, talk shows, comedians, etc: "she's not
qualified, she's not qualified, she's not qualified .....", just on,
and on, and on. However Palin is no longer chained by McCain's
people, and she is proving to know how to use various mediums to great
advantage to get her message across. She now knows it's a war: The
MSM versus Sarah Palin. Three years is a long time in politics, and I
am betting that she will out propagandize the liberal media.

She was governor of the largest state in the union, with perhaps
the greatest oil reserves. So, yeah, I guess she doesn't have the
qualifications of a community organizer.

Right, and was brought up on charges of abusing her power and quit in
the middle of her first term to cash in.
Exactly the character you would expect from a Republicon President.

She knows she has ZERO chance.

Who want's a quitter for a President anyway?

Besides, she's too busy cashing in on her kooky sheeple followers.

Once she starts campaigning, you Dems are going to wish she really was
a quitter. You think if you say it often enough then it will be
true. That's not how the real world works. The Democratic strategy
is easy to see: they are trying to associate the terms "quitter" and
"unqualified" with the name Sarah Palin. They seldom mention her name
without also mentioning one or both of those terms.

When Sarah gets going it's going to be "Obama socialist, Obama William
Ayers, Obama terrorist Obama Reverend Wright Obama racist Obama
racist." I think 2012 will see the most vicious campaign, from both
sides, in the history of this country. I can't wait.

Perhaps because of the fact they they are richly deserved?

She IS an unqualified quitter who left her post as Governor to cash in
on her fame with the wingnut faithful.

McCain got scared of the feedback from the liberal media and clamped
down on her.

And lets talk about quitting. Napolitano quit and said " Fuck all you
Arizonans, I've had a better offer." Sebelius quit and said "Fuck
all you Kansans, I've had a better offer. So long suckers I'm to
important now to serve out my term."

And, of course, everyone can now see that Obama wasn't qualified, and
that he's in way over his head.
