Murder and Non-Negligent Manslaughter (rate per 100,000 in 2005)

By Region

South 6.6
West 5.8
Mid-West 4.9
Northeast 4.4
U.S. Average 5.6
http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/05cius/data/table_04.html

Since Republi-Shill seem to like to toss around murder rate statistics
(while conveniently leaving out the above), I figured I would help
them out on this.

While Louisiana's 9.9 rating certainly weighted the figures, New
Orlean's wouldn't have been a factor in the 8.2 rating of Alabama or
the 7.3 rating for Mississippi. Shoot, if it wasn't for the 5.0
rating of comparatively liberal states like Florida, the South's
stat's would be a lot worse than a 6.6 average.

That's the odd thing about statistics, they so often fly in the face
of rhetoric, whether on issues of violent crime or dependence on
federal spending.

Caution, Young Skywalker.

The statistics don't assign cause. You are the only one doing that.

I haven't seen these suggestions. Where--who?

Now, as to whether "liberal" regions are more crime-ridden, and this is
self-demonstrating:

Just look at the tax rates.

Primarily AM Radio, though also in print which both find their way
into Usenet as "fact". The first use was to deminish the sacrifice
of our troops by suggesting people were more likely to die in
"California" than Iraq or that Detroit was more dangerous than
Baghdad. Of course, both of these completely B.S. facts were based on
totally distorted use of facts and both also carefully avoided the use
of far more dangerous places in "conservative" regions of the country,
because they were trying to perpetuate two myths at the same time.

Racists also love to provide facts that "black" are more violent,
while carefully avoiding stat's that, again, point to their own
favored terrain.

Regardless, the specific example that prompted my post was another
post in this same distribution that went under the header:
"Report Shows Most Dangerous American States = Most Illegal-Alien-
Bloated American States "
Which chose to focus on Los Angeles, while linking an article that was
actually based on Red-States Nevada, New Mexico and Arizona. This, of
course, produced the obligatory responses blaming liberal America and
implying that California is to blame for its horrible crime rate (not
realizing how much safer California is than are so many "conservative"
states.)
http://groups.google.com/group/alt.politics.immigration/msg/56a76c3a22de5184?dmode=source&hl=en
http://finance.yahoo.com/real-estate/article/102714/The-Most-Dangerous-American-States

Ironically, I totally agree with the argument that illegal imigration
is a huge problem and adds enormously to the crime rate. My only
point would be that, for California to absorb such a disproportionate
amount of potential criminals and still remain far safer than most
"conservative" states, is hardly an indictment of "liberalism".

It's a typical example of how "conservatives" have undermined the very
principles they pretend to espouse, as they sacrifice reality for
political expedience.

It's a truly sad trend, as I truly liked conservatives, back when
there actually were some.

That is a misleading application of 'safer'. Murder is not the
only factor in determining relative security.

It appears that illegal alien crime, aside from the initial
crime of entering the US illegally, includes the categories
of assault, robbery and drunken driving. Alien drunken driving
for example, kills hundreds of Americans each year.

Then there is the disease factor.

Anywhere illegal aliens gather, there are increases in driving deaths
and injuries, disease, prostitution, assault, robbery and rape.

Want to be safe? Avoid living near blacks and illegal aliens.

Uh-oh, caught LYING.......

Your Table Reference above is "Murder and Non-Negligent Manslaughter"

The District of Columbia rate is: -0.9....

But you forgot to subtract Delaware which is 32.1, and Maryland which is 6.0

No, I mean you.

Nobody considers Delaware the South.

Nobody considers Maryland the South.

Nobody considers DC the South.

Granted, your LIE was actually enabled by the FBI but they weren't trying to
ridicule the South. Instead they were trying to conceal the out of control
crime rates in urban areas in the North.

My mention of DC tilted YOU. It was bait and you took it. It (I) gave you
two opportunities both of which you ignored in your quest to LIE about the
South.

First, you FAILED to note Delaware at a whooping 32.1, then you ASSUME (for
purposes of your LIE) that Alabama and Mississippi are rural when the FBI's
own stats prove URBAN crime (not rural) has increased. See below.

> In fact, since nationwide urban

ALABAMA
Crime by State, 2005
Murder and nonnegligent manslaughter
Metropolitan Statistical Area: 311
Cities outside metropolitan areas: 38
Nonmetropolitan counties: 24
http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/05cius/data/table_05.html

Feel free to study other states....

Yes, the South IS predominantly rural. Which is IRRELEVANT.

No, URBAN crime, in EVERY REGION, has increased. It has NOTHING to do with
Region and EVERYTHING to do with URBAN.

Nigger on nigger urban crime, and illegal alien criminals, ARE over 95% of
the crime and crime increase in America.

Try not to be a LIAR next time, and do try to FINISH your homework before

Furthermore, NO STATE in the Northeast has a rate as high as the AVERAGE
of the South.

Only ONE STATE, Missouri, which is the SOUTHERNMOST of the
states in the Midwest, has a murder rate as high as the AVERAGE of the
South. (Missouri must be misclassified!)

In the West, the high murder rates are in Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada
and California, which are SOUTHwestern states.

There is no arguing with the FACT that the murder rate in the USA is
significantly higher in the south, and this is true from coast to coast.

You don't have to assume. If you do the numbers, you find that the
average for all the southern states, excluding DC, is 6.5, just
slighlty lower than the 6.6 you get if you include DC. Which you
should because it's a southern city.

In the real world DC isn't part of the South, neither is Maryland or
Delaware.

Subtract DC and MD and DE and see what you get....

And note also that the FBI included what the real-world considers to be the
Midwest in with the South...

The FBI tweaked its presentation of the statistics to HIDE the fact that its
actually Northern URBAN areas where most crime is committed.

What I notice is that cities at the TOP are TINY, and UNSAFE cities at the
bottom are BIG URBAN CITIES.

What I notice are these cities YOU claim are Northern and Blue are
considered SOUTH by the FBI: 8, 10, 13, 18, 19, 20, 33, 41, 48, 49, 61, 64,
69, 81, 83, 97...

Are you having trouble keeping your LIES straight?

"General Eisenhower ... quoted a report in The New York Times,
highlighting one paragraph that said: 'The rise in illegal border-
crossing by Mexican 'wetbacks' to a current rate of more than
1,000,000 cases a year has been accompanied by a curious relaxation

You're totally delusional. The District of Columbia is and always was
part of the South. They carved it out of Virginia and Maryland, two
southern states.

But because of its special status as a Federal district, I went to the
trouble of calculating for you the difference that DC makes in the
"South" regional statistic. 6.5% without DC as compared to 6.6% with,
and still higher than any other region.

So you say the South shouldn't include Maryland and Delaware. I expect
Marylanders, at least, would be very surprised at this assertion.

If you did, along with the District, now you're at 6.3%.

Any way you carve up the map, it's still true that most of the murders
happen in the south.

I'm not sure whether that's true proportional to population, though it
probably is in raw numbers.

What I am sure of is that Texas leads the nation in is producing
disasterously bad Presidents (LBJ, Bush Sr, Bush Jr), none of whom has
ever won the nation's popular vote more than once.

Why? Neither state seceded and Virginia has always been the
northernmost of the southern states. Maryland and Delaware are
considered middle or northern atlantic states.

I don't recall any grouping which makes Maryland so Delaware southern
states.

The Old South:
"The Southern Colonies were Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina,
Delaware, South Carolina, and Georgia"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_South#Geographic_usage

Maryland and Delaware were also slave states prior to the Civil War.
The reason they did not seceed from the Union when the confederacy was
formed was largely due to the proactive efforts of Lincoln, who, not
wanting to see the nationa's capitol surrounded by the Confederacy,
had a large number of key Confederate sympathizers arrested, including
many in the state legislature who could have voted for secession.

Many from Maryland and Delaware joined the Confederacy despite their
state having retained allegience to the U.S. Ironically, because they
did not seceed, the "Emancipation Proclamation" did not apply to
Maryland and Delaware, resulting in their being able to continue
slavery beyond the time it was declared illegal for states that had
joined the Confederacy.

Thank you. So, that leaves Delaware as a northern state.

Only if you ignore my response to your post, which covered the fact
that both Maryland and Delaware were part of the "Old South", which
was used to describe those states formed out of the "Southern"
Colonies.

Both were also slave-holding states going into the Civil War. While I
don't believe Lincoln's arrest of Confederate sympathizers in the
legislature had as much impact in Delaware's decision not to seceed as
it did in the case of Maryland, Delaware's decision not to abandon the
Constitution was likely rooted in their sentiment as having been the
first state to ratify it in 1787. Though it staid in the Union
Delaware voted against the 13th amendment. Delaware would also follow
the rest of the South's traditions regarding Jim Crow laws and
segregation right up until integration was mandated at the federal
level in the 50s. It consistently voted withe the rest of the South
in national elections until 1992 (though that year, the southern vote
was split).

What's silly about this "Delaware is a northen state" argument, is the
fact that Delaware has a murder rate of only 4.4 per 100,000, meaning
it is two full points UNDER the murder rate of the "the South". So
how exactly is it negatively impacting their stat's?

Even the argument that D.C. and Baltimore sway the stat's of the south
is ridiculous when you consider the fact that Birmingham is considered
more dangerous than Baltimore and Memphis, Richmond and Atlanta all
come in as more dangerous than Washington D.C.
http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2006-10-30-city-crime-list_x.htm

Why is it Southerners have such trouble accepting the fact they live
in the most violent region in the country? Could it be they have
simply been spoon-fed lies about the rest of America in an effort to
make them feel better about their situation? Perhaps from the same
sources that pretend the "conservative" South is not the region that
is most dependent on federal spending for it's economic survival?

weren't even part of the United States until 1845), I'll remove all of
the states that aren't part of the "Real" South.

After getting rid of Maryland, D.C. and Delaware, doing away with
Louisiana goes without question. Florida's near-derailing
of Bush's 2000 election as well as their recent humiliation of
Katherine Harris takes them off the list. Kentucky can't be on the
list for the same "border state" reasons as Maryland. We'll forgive
Tennessee because they turned on their native son to get
Bush elected in 2000 and we'll forgive Texas for LBJ's CRA of '64 for
providing the Bushes. Arkansas "Clinton" period seems
to have been put in the past with removal of Bill Clinton's law
license and the election of Huckabee. Soooo here's what's left.
The REAL South (and corresponding murder rate)
*note that the "South" defined by the FBI had a murder rate of 6.6

What logic? What stats?

Your USA Today Ranking says #7 is safer than #369.

The FBI says URBAN crime is rising and non-urban crime isn't:

California - Violent Crime
Metropolitan Statistical Area 186,982
Cities outside metropolitan areas 1,240
Nonmetropolitan counties 1,956

Michigan - Violent Crime
Metropolitan Statistical Area 51,662
Cities outside metropolitan areas 1,443
Nonmetropolitan counties 2,434

According to the above URBAN crime is rampant in both while non-urban crime
is only a fraction of total violent crime. Where are the actual crime stats
for Irvine, CA, and Flint, MI????

Of course its stupid to compare NYC to Birmingham.

Alabama - Violent Crime
Metropolitan Statistical Area 14,466
Cities outside metropolitan areas 2,208
Nonmetropolitan counties 937

New York - Violent Crime
Metropolitan Statistical Area 82,052
Cities outside metropolitan areas 1,518
Nonmetropolitan counties 1,773

According to the above the Northern state of NY is more violent than AL, and
obviously URBAN crime is rampant in both while non-urban crime is only a
fraction of total violent crime.

This suggests the NORTH is MORE VIOLENT than the South.

>> What I notice are these cities YOU claim are Northern and Blue are
>> considered SOUTH by the FBI: 8, 10, 13, 18, 19, 20, 33, 41, 48, 49, 61,
>> 64,
>> 69, 81, 83, 97...

>What I claimed was that the top (safest) half was dominated by
>Northern and Blue state-based cities, while the bottom (most
>dangerous) half was dominated by Southern and Red-state-based
>citiies.

But your claim is NOT supported by fact. Northern NY is more violent than
Southern AL. And OBVIOULSY Red vs. Blue is entirely IRRELEVANT because its
CLEAR that URBAN crime blows away non-urban crime EVERYWHERE.

>The fact you had to dip all the way down to #8 just to find
>a Red-state example in the plus column speaks for itself (quite
>humorously, I might add).

Let's see:

1. Brick, N.J.
New Jersey - Violent Crime
Metropolitan Statistical Area 30,919
Cities outside metropolitan areas (not reported)
Nonmetropolitan counties (not reported)

2. Amherst, N.Y.
New York - Violent Crime
Metropolitan Statistical Area 82,052
Cities outside metropolitan areas 1,518
Nonmetropolitan counties 1,773

3. Mission Viejo, Calif.
California - Violent Crime
Metropolitan Statistical Area 186,982
Cities outside metropolitan areas 1,240
Nonmetropolitan counties 1,956

4. Newton, Mass.
Massachusetts - Violent Crime
Metropolitan Statistical Area 28,676
Cities outside metropolitan areas 87
Nonmetropolitan counties 0

5. Troy, Mich.
Michigan - Violent Crime
Metropolitan Statistical Area 51,662
Cities outside metropolitan areas 1,443
Nonmetropolitan counties 2,434

6. Colonie, N.Y.
New York - Violent Crime
Metropolitan Statistical Area 82,052
Cities outside metropolitan areas 1,518
Nonmetropolitan counties 1,773

7. Irvine, Calif.
California - Violent Crime
Metropolitan Statistical Area 186,982
Cities outside metropolitan areas 1,240
Nonmetropolitan counties 1,956

8. Cary, N.C.
North Carolina - Violent Crime
Metropolitan Statistical Area 30,298
Cities outside metropolitan areas 5,237
Nonmetropolitan counties 4,270

9. Greece, N.Y.
New York - Violent Crime
Metropolitan Statistical Area 82,052
Cities outside metropolitan areas 1,518
Nonmetropolitan counties 1,773

10. Coral Springs, Fla.
Florida - Violent Crime
Metropolitan Statistical Area 119,621
Cities outside metropolitan areas 1,993
Nonmetropolitan counties 4,264

From the above:

- CA is far more violent than even NY,
- Southern NC is LESS violent than EVERY Blue State,
- Southern NC is LESS violent than ALL Northern States,
- Southern (Red) FL is LESS violent than Western (Blue) CA,
- URBAN Crime is rampant,
- Non-urban crime is minor,
- Red vs. Blue is irrelevant,
- North vs South is almost irrelevant.

In your RUSH to LIE about crime and the South you apparently missed most of
the RELEVANT data the FBI posted. (I'm not surprised that when confronted
your instant reaction was to quote NOT from actual FBI statistics but from a
newspaper article that is OBVIOUSLY FLAWED - Note that #1, Brick, NJ, DID
NOT REPORT non-urban crime.
http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/05cius/data/table_05.html

You missed Urban vs. Non-urban Crime:

Violent Crime
METROPOLITAN COUNTIES
100,000 and over +2.7
25,000 to 99,999 +1.6
Under 25,000 -0.2

NONMETROPOLITAN COUNTIES
25,000 and over +2.4
10,000 to 24,999 +1.9
Under 10,000 -1.8
http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/05cius/data/table_14.html

Clearly, when Red vs. Blue is IGNORED, and when North vs. South is IGNORED,
RURAL areas are the ONLY areas showing a DECREASE in crime.

You also missed Table 12, Crime Trends by Population Group:

Violent Crime
TOTAL CITIES +2.6
GROUP I (all cities 250,000 and over) +3.2
GROUP II (100,000 to 249,999) +3.7
GROUP III (50,000 to 99,999) +1.4
GROUP IV (25,000 to 49,999) +2.5
GROUP V (10,000 to 24,999) +0.3
GROUP VI (under 10,000) +1.2
METROPOLITAN COUNTIES +2.3
NONMETROPOLITAN COUNTIES +1.5
SUBURBAN AREA +1.9

This CLEARLY shows there IS NO Red-Blue significance, there IS NO
North-South significance (given the FBI's unusual regionalization); and
CLEARLY SHOWS that URBAN crime is out of control and RURAL crime IS NOT.

You're wrong. The Census Bureau considers that part of the South. The OMB
considers the South to be: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi,
North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee.

See my other most-recent post. Urban crime is UP everywhere. Non-urban
crime is NOT - everywhere. There is no significant difference between Red
and Blue. There is no significant difference between North and South (given
the smoothing the FBI chose).

The only thing you have done is to resoundingly FAIL to finish your homwork.

Where are your crime stats for these cities?

How can you compare a ranked list of cities WITHOUT knowing the stats?

Oh really?

Rate of murder and non-negligent homicide
Birmingham, AL (pop 234,571) (incidences 104) (rate per 100,000 =
44.3)
http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/05cius/data/table_08_al.html

NYC, NY (pop 8,115,690) (incidences 539) (rate per 100,000 = 6.64)
http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/05cius/data/table_08_ny.html

LA, CA (pop 3,871,077) (incidences 489) (rate per 100,000 = 12.63)
http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/05cius/data/table_08_ca.html

Now how about that "Urban crime always exceeds rural crime" myth of
yours:

Tarrant City, AL (pop 6,833) (incidences 3) (rate per 100,000 = 43.9)
http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/05cius/data/table_08_al.html

You're cherry-picking cities.

I already posted Metro-v. Non-Metro stats.

I already posted Suburb v. non-suburb stats.

Its just a FACT that Rural crime rates are less than Suburban crime rates
and Suburban crime rates are less than Urban crime rates.

North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee.

New York City comes in significantly lower than the STATE AVERAGE for
Alabama and Mississippi. Just because the rural areas of those states
are slightly lower than Birmingham does not make them safer than New
York City.

You are using national stat's to try to salvage your long-lost
argument.

Oh yeah, that's right. All REAL Southerners use the OMB to define
their status as Southerners (Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas must have
missed the memo). I should have known.

By the way. Even this pool of states would still lead the nation in
murder rate.

This map leaves both MD and DE typically out of the definition of a
southern state along with West Virginia (which was carved from
Virginia during the Civil War), Arkansas, Missouri and Oklahoma though
all these areas were originally 'south' of the Mason Dixon or legally
denoted as slave states or areas. Note that Texas and Florida are
both shown as not always considered to be southern states though both
were slave states and members of the CSA. Kentucky also is not
generally considered a southern state since it did not as a whole,
secede from the union yet it too is below the M-D line.

Depending on definition then, MD and DE may be considered southern at
least in the context of early American history. In practical usage,
they are not. They did not secede from the union for example, and
neither state is identified in the public mind as being southern.

One of those situations in which circumstances prevent any hard and
fast rule from being followed. By modern definition MD and DE are
most definitely not southern states.

Except, in my case, I reference, sourced and linked an article

criteria they used to establish their ranking from "safest" to "most
dangerous using stat's drawn from the very FBI Data I referenced,

You shouldn't parrot O'Reilly. It makes you stupid.

"My first argument is that the exclusionists are wrong when they say
the current wave of immigration is tearing our social fabric. The
facts show that the recent rise in immigration hasn't been accompanied
by social breakdown, but by social repair. As immigration has surged,
violent crime has fallen by 57 percent. Teen pregnancies and abortion
rates have declined by a third. Teenagers are having fewer sexual
partners and losing their virginity later. Teen suicide rates have
dropped. The divorce rate for young people is on the way down.
Over the past decade we've seen the beginnings of a moral revival, and
some of the most important work has been done by Catholic and
evangelical immigrant churches, by faith-based organizations like the
Rev. Luis Cortés's Nueva Esperanza, by Hispanic mothers and fathers
monitoring their kids. The anti-immigration crowd says this country is
under assault. But if that's so, we're under assault by people who
love their children.
My second argument is that the immigrants themselves are like a
booster shot of traditional morality injected into the body politic.
Immigrants work hard. They build community groups. They have
traditional ideas about family structure, and they work heroically to
make them a reality.
This is evident in everything from divorce rates (which are low, given
immigrants' socioeconomic status) to their fertility rates (which are
high) and even the way they shop.
Hispanics and Hispanic immigrants have less money than average
Americans, but they spend what they have on their families, usually in
wholesome ways. According to Simmons Research, Hispanics are 57
percent more likely than average Americans to have purchased
children's furniture in the past year. Mexican-Americans spend 93
percent more on children's music.
According to the government's Consumer Expenditure Survey, Hispanics
spend more on gifts, on average, than other Americans. They're more
likely to support their parents financially. They're more likely to
have big family dinners at home.
This isn't alien behavior. It's admirable behavior, the antidote to
the excessive individualism that social conservatives decry.
...
Social conservatives, let me ask you to consider one final thing.
Women who have recently arrived from Mexico have bigger, healthier
babies than more affluent non-Hispanic white natives. That's because
strong family and social networks support these pregnant women,
reminding them what to eat and do. But the longer they stay, and the
more assimilated they become, the more bad habits they acquire and the
more problems their subsequent babies have. "
Immigrants to Be Proud Of
David Brooks
March 30, 2006
http://select.nytimes.com/search/restricted/article?res=F10613F93E540C738FDDAA0894DE404482

"Consider what sociologists call the ''Latino paradox'': Hispanic
Americans do better on a range of various social indicators --
including propensity to violence -- than one would expect given their
socioeconomic disadvantages. My colleagues and I have completed a
study in which we examined violent acts by almost 3,000 males and
females, ranging in age from 8 to 25, from 1995 to 2003. The study
selected whites, blacks and Hispanics (primarily Mexican-Americans)
from 180 Chicago neighborhoods ranging from highly segregated to very
integrated. We also analyzed data from police records, the Census and
a separate survey of more than 8,000 Chicago residents who were asked
about the characteristics of their neighborhoods.
Surprisingly, we found a significantly lower rate of violence among
Mexican-Americans than among blacks and whites. A major reason is that
more than a quarter of all those of Mexican descent were born abroad
and more than half lived in neighborhoods where the majority of
residents were also Mexican. Indeed, the first-generation immigrants
(those born outside the United States) in our study were 45 percent
less likely to commit violence than were third-generation Americans,
adjusting for family and neighborhood background. Second-generation
immigrants were 22 percent less likely to commit violence than the
third generation.
This ''protective'' pattern among immigrants holds true for non-
Hispanic whites and blacks as well. Our study further showed that
living in a neighborhood of concentrated immigration is directly
associated with lower violence (again, after taking into account a
host of factors, including poverty and an individual's immigrant
status).
Now consider that immigration to the United States rose sharply in the
1990's, especially from Mexico and especially to immigrant enclaves in
large cities. Overall, the foreign-born population increased by more
than 50 percent in 10 years, to 31 million people in 2000. A report by
the Pew Hispanic Center found that immigration grew most significantly
in the middle of the 90's and hit its peak at the end of the decade,
when the national homicide rate plunged to levels not seen since the
1960's. Immigrant flows have receded since 2001, while the national
homicide rate leveled off and seems now to be creeping up.
...
Yet our study found that immigrants appear in general to be less
violent than people born in America, particularly when they live in
neighborhoods with high numbers of other immigrants. We are thus
witnessing a different pattern from early 20th-century America, when
growth in immigration from Europe was linked with increasing crime and
formed a building block for what became known as ''social
disorganization'' theory.
In today's world, then, it is no longer tenable to assume that
immigration automatically leads to chaos and crime. New York is a
magnet for immigration, yet it has for a decade ranked as one of
America's safest cities. Border cities like El Paso and San Diego have
made similar gains against crime. Perhaps the lesson is that if we
want to continue to crack down on crime, closing the nation's doors is
not the answer. "
Open Doors Don't Invite Criminals

In fact, it's more likely that the violence that infects the US like a
terminal virus and captures immigrants, legal or illegal, only after a
couple of generations, is the result of that darn Scotch-Irish
culture.

"Garbarino really startled his audience when he went on to suggest
that it was immigrant Scots who gave the United States its peculiar
culture of violence. He claimed that most of the USA's mayhem stems
from south of the Mason-Dixon line where: "There is a higher incidence
of an insult or show of disrespect leading to a murder where young men
cannot bear the humiliation. There are historical reasons for this."
And the main reason Garbarino cited was the waves of immigration in
the 18th and 19th centuries of Scots (and Ulster Scots) into that
area. The English and Welsh preferred to settle in the states of the
north and mid-west which, as a consequence, are more peaceable."

In case you didn't there's no such thing as per capita CRIMES. Crimes are
actual events involving actual victims. I posted Metro-v.Non-Metro CRIMES
because CRIMES are what happens to VICTIMS (immediately before they become
statistics).

In posting Metro-v. Non-Metro CRIMES I PROVED that URBAN crime is rampant
and RURAL crime is not.

Slightly? Rural AL is 14 (fourteen) times safer than Metro AL. Are you
stupid? Rural MS is 4 (four) times safer than Metro MS. That's not a
slight difference that's a HUGE difference.

Of course it does you fool! READ THE DATA!

Here, I'll do your homework for you, AGAIN:

MISSISSIPPI
Violent Crime + Murder and nonnegligent manslaughter
Nonmetropolitan counties 900

ALABAMA
Violent Crime + Murder and nonnegligent manslaughter
Nonmetropolitan counties 957

NEW YORK
Violent Crime + Murder and nonnegligent manslaughter
Nonmetropolitan counties 1,793

NEW YORK
Violent Crime + Murder and nonnegligent manslaughter
Cities outside metropolitan areas 1,529

As you can see Suburban NY is very nearly as dangerous as Rural AL and MS
COMBINED!!

As you can see Rural NY is very nearly as dangerous as Rural AL and MS
COMBINED!!

PROOF POSITIVE.

Try to finish your homework next time.

Try not to lie.

There's NO SUCH THING as a per capita crime. A CRIME is an ACTUAL event.

Above are ACTUAL crimes.

More crime = less safe.

Less crime = more safe.

What you accomplish by focusing on PER CAPITA crime is the ILLUSION of
Safety in Numbers. Of course there are more people living in NYC than in
Birmingham, and the Per Capita crime level suggests that there is safety in
numbers, like crowded sheep in a corral. But the REALITY is that 67,586
VICTIMS DID NOT get to appreciate Safety in Numbers BECAUSE ITS AN ILLUSION.

You also failed to notice one of the more interesting statistics. In NY
State RURAL crime EXCEEDS Suburban crime.
