In SD, every so often the Sioux Indians start talking that they want their
land back, but hey - that's war you know. The winners win and the losers
get screwed. It may not be right, but that's how war works.
However, the Sioux Indians do have a valid point when it comes to treaty
violations. There are more than a few treaties the US government has
violated. This should be fixed. If we don't live up to, or at least
re-negotiate those treaties properly, then the signature of the president
whose name is on the originals is not worth anything. We as a nation must
live up to our word.
But where there is no formal written treaty, the spoils of war go to the
victor.
And yes, over the next 50 years Latinos will change this country. However
the changes will come from within. The changes will come Americans of
Latino descent. Just like the Germans and Irish changed America in the
1900's, so the Latinos will change America.

well the sort of farming practiced in CA would be impossible without
expensive mechanization, or large numbers of cheap migrant farmworkers. So
far, from the owner's point of view, immigrant workers are cheaper than the
machines.
It does not matter what nationality they are, as long as they will work hard
for low pay. Oh, and they must be the type of worker who - if he
complains - we can just call up the INS and have him deported.
