The wheels of justice turn slowly, but eventually the crooked
are caught and crushed. Your day is coming, Clinton family.
Former Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane was sentenced
to up to two years behind bars followed by a probation that will
keep her under court supervision for nearly a decade for crimes
she committed in pursuit of retribution against political foes.
"This case is about ego — ego of a politician consumed with her
image from Day One," Judge Wendy Demchick-Alloy said during
Kane's sentencing Monday in Montgomery County Court. "And
instead of focusing solely on the business of fighting crime,
her focus was on defeating these perceived enemies."
Kane showed little emotion after she learned the 10- to 23-month
sentence. The jail term is followed by eight years of probation.
She embraced her 15-year-old son, who earlier testified in her
support, before sheriff's deputies placed her in handcuffs and
led her from the courtroom.
Kane may remain free on bail pending an appeal, but Demchick-
Alloy noted that Kane now knows she faces incarceration, and the
judge granted the prosecution's request to increase her bail to
$75,000.
