Iowans Overwhelmingly Support Traditional Marriage

Iowans Rally for Marriage
Family advocates will hold a rally at the Iowa state capitol for "Two
days for Marriage" on Jan. 12-13 in support of a marriage protection
amendment, a day after the Legislature goes back into session.
The event is being coordinated by "Let Us Vote Iowa" and the Iowa
Family Policy Council (IFPC).
Tom Steen, chief operating officer for the IFPC, said the rally will
come after the governor's state of the state address.
"We are going to take the leaders of the various community groups that
will be there to meet House leaders and Senate leaders," he said. "They
are going to be delivering petitions that have been building and
gathering over the state for the last four or five months."
Last April, the Iowa Supreme Court struck down the state's defense of
marriage act � ushering in gay "marriage." Steen said the numbers show
that Iowa is ripe for a constitutional marriage amendment.
"We don't feel that the 70 percent of Iowans who want that are being
fairly represented in the Legislature," he said.

No wonder Craig the Queer has been so quiet lately.

Iowans are almost evenly divided about whether they would vote for or
against a constitutional amendment to end marriage for same-sex
couples, according to The Des Moines Register's new Iowa Poll.
Forty-one percent say they would vote for a ban, and 40 percent say
they would vote to continue gay marriage. The rest either would not
vote or say they are not sure.
The overwhelming majority of Iowans - 92 percent - say gay marriage
has brought no real change to their lives.
Now of interest is the fact that in this poll the vast majority of the
Iowans polled said they were far more concerned with the economy than
with who married whom. This included Republicans [65%], Democrats
{90%] and Independents {93%].
