In Ron Paul Coins, Federal Agents Don't Trust
Rep. Ron Paul, candidate and currency.

As if Ron Paul's supporters needed any more motivation to storm the
battlements and wreak havoc on the Republican presidential primary, now comes
this: the feds are trying to take away their money.
Federal agents on Wednesday raided the Evansville, Indiana headquarters of the
National Organization for the Repeal of the Federal Reserve and Internal
Revenue Codes (NORFED), an organization of "sound money" advocates that for
the past decade has been selling what it calls Liberty Dollars, a private
currency it says is backed by silver and gold stored in Idaho, with a total of
more than $20 million in circulation, according to the group.
NORFED officials said yesterday that the raid occurred just as they were
preparing to mail out the first batch of about 60,000 "Ron Paul Dollars,"
copper coins sold for $1 and decorated with the craggy visage of Paul, the
libertarian Texas congressman, Iraq war opponent and sound-money advocate who
has sparked a surprisingly vigorous insurgent campaign for the GOP nomination.
The group says that it in recent months it already shipped out about 10,000 in
silver Ron Paul dollars that sold for $20.
Bernard von NotHaus, NORFED's founder and executive director, said in an
interview from his home in Miami Friday night that his employees in Evansville
had received the copper dollars late last week and managed to mail out only
about 3,500 of them so far. After a six-hour raid, he said, the agents left
with the rest of the coins, which weighed about two tons total, as well as
smaller amounts of silver Ron Paul dollars, gold Ron Paul dollars that sell
for $1,000 and platinum Ron Paul dollars that sell for $2,000. There was a
separate raid, NotHaus said, of Sunshine Mint in Coer D'Alene, Idaho, a
company that prints the organization's coins, where von NotHaus said agents
seized the huge pallets of silver and gold worth more than $1 million that the
organization says back the paper certificates issued to its customers.
"They took everything, all of the computers, everything but the desks and
chairs," said von NotHaus, who says he served 25 years as the mintmaster for
the Royal Hawaiian Mint. "The federal government really is afraid."
The Indianapolis branch of the FBI declined to comment on the raid and
referred calls to the U.S. Attorney's office for Western North Carolina in
Charlotte. That office's spokeswoman, Suellen Pierce, also declined to
comment. But bloggers at the libertarian Reason Foundation posted on-line a
35-page copy affidavit for a search warrant filed last week with the Western
District in Asheville laying out the government's case against NORFED. Pierce
said that the search warrant in the case had been accidentally made public by
a court clerk and has since been sealed, under court rules.
In the affidavit, an FBI special agent states that he is investigating NORFED
for federal violations including "uttering coins of gold, silver, or other
metal," "making or possessing likeness of coins," mail fraud, wire fraud,
money laundering and conspiracy. "The goal of NORFED is to undermine the
United States government's financial systems by the issuance of a
non-governmental competing currency for the purpose of repealing the Federal
Reserve and Internal Revenue Code," he states.
The agent states that the investigation started two years ago. And the U.S.
Mint a year ago issued a warning against using the Liberty Dollar, prompting a
lawsuit by NORFED. But that has not kept Liberty Dollar fans from speculating
on-line that the raid was prompted by Paul's strong campaign -- which recently
raised more than $4 million in a single day -- or by the precipitous recent
decline in the value of the dollar.
A Paul campaign spokeswoman, Kerri Price, said yesterday that while Paul also
supports abolishing the Federal Reserve, the campaign "does not have any
affiliation with Liberty Dollars at all." von NotHaus confirmed this, saying
that he knows Paul because they "move in the same circles" but that he had
expressly not talked with Paul about his plans for the special coins so as not
to violate federal election rules.
But the coins have been another rallying point for Paul's supporters, who have
asked Paul to pose for photographs with the coins on the campaign trail. Jim
Forsythe, a Paul organizer in New Hampshire who ordered 150 of the copper Ron
Paul dollars, said yesterday that the seizure of the coins would likely fuel
more support for Paul, who scores close to double-digits in some New Hampshire
polls. "People are pretty upset about this," he said. "The dollar is going
down the tubes and this is something that can protect the value of their money
and the Federal Reserve is threatened by that. It'll definitely fire people
up."
Von NotHaus, meanwhile, is urging Liberty Dollar supporters to express their
outrage by donating to Paul, saying on the group's Web site that "in light of
this assault on our financial freedom, it is clear that we need Ron Paul to
lead this country more than ever." He said that all of his bank accounts have
been frozen and that he expects that a federal indictment will soon be in the
offing, saying that "once the federal government starts an investigation like
this and takes it to a grand jury, they can indict a ham sandwich." Should he
be charged, he said, "I'll turn it into my golden opportunity to validate the
Liberty Dollar as a legal lawful currency and save the country from a monetary
collapse."
What he's most concerned about for now, though, is the thought of all his
customers waiting for their Ron Paul dollars. "People aren't going to get
their orders, and they aren't going to get them for a while," he said.
That is good news, of course, for those already holding the coins. On eBay,
the silver Ron Paul dollars that were purchased for $20 were selling for more
than $170 last night.

A wood or stone Ron Paul coin would have more value then the Feds Dollar.
Banks create Plastic and then print money out of thin air! I suggest all
plastic cards be treated as legal tender? lol Feds like printing money out of
thin air with not value!

Very Coincidental Indeed That They Would Choose To Raid When Ron Paul's
Support Is Waxing And The Dollar Is Waning.
We Are In A State Of Financial Free Fall That Will Be Very Apparent In 2008.
Ron Paul' Economic Stance Will Be Vindicated Next Year. (Too Bad We All Have
To Suffer To Prove Him Right)
Save The Republic, Vote Ron Paul In The Primaries !!!

You know its kind of funny that when Ronald Reagon died there was a private
company that minted a comemorative coin. I think this is sad because you cant
even spend this and if you do its by the barter system trading it for a sack
of potatoes or something. Boy the government has so over stepped its bounds. I
am glad they are doing it soon it will be water cannons and brutality. We will
be heard and we will prevail just like martin Luther king did in the 60's.
This is the civil rights movement starting again but this time its not about
color or creed its for our freedom.

Out of the list below they went after the "Liberty Dollar". It might be just

Next The FBI and CIA will be confiscating our own grown food! The Message by
Chad is telling bring the truth Bias big Time! Let Real value Rule! I wish I
had my order filled with real value! Ron Paul will make it legal to competing
currencies maybe we will have monopoly money it may be worth more than the Fed
Dollar soon.
Posted by: stan_h_zx | November 16, 2007 08:37 PM
This is the Mafia-like Federal Reserve protecting their monopoly on money,
nothing more. And completely unconstitutional, but the Fed Mafia doesn't care
about that.
The dollar is tanking and if people knew there was a competing currency backed
with gold and silver -- like our dollar used to be, before the Fed Mafia took
over -- no one would want the lousy, Fed-inflated greenback anymore. That's
what's behind this raid.
It's pure theft and pure racketeering. But the Mafia called the "government"
does it, so it's OK. Disgusting. I'm glad Thomas Jefferson isn't alive to see
what's happened to this country.

He is a *Republican* congressman in the state of Texas. The Washington Post is
a major newspaper. Don't you proofread before you post?

Rudiani,Clinton and all the rest are deffinitely out to screw Ron Paul, but why
buy a Ron Paul dollar, other than as a curiosity keepsake, when you can go to
any coin shop and buy a Morgan or Silver Eagle?
Posted by: Ricardo1 | November 16, 2007 09:04 PM
First off, these coins are NOT part of Ron Paul's campaign!
Second, as for not trusting the money supply. The Federal Agents should be
reminded that in the court case First National Bank of Montgomery vs. Jerome
Daly
the US currency (federal reserve notes) are declared UNCONSTITUTIONAL. Read
the ruling:

"uttering coins of gold, silver, or other metal," "making or possessing
likeness of coins,"
Oh yeah, I'm sure they were pressing quarters, nickels, and dimes....
Seriously though, unless the Feds can find a die for some liberty Golden
Eagles or other U.S. "coin" I don't see how this charge can stick.
It is also possible that there was some kind of mail or wire fraud going on.
highly unlikely, but possible.
But this charge - "The goal of NORFED is to undermine the United States
government's financial systems by the issuance of a non-governmental competing
currency for the purpose of repealing the Federal Reserve and Internal Revenue
Code,"
Not only is this not a crime, it should be the basis of a congressional medal
of honor.

This reminds me of the story that went around after John Kennedy's demise that
he was trying to bring back the gold standard and the government and Feds
could NOT allow that! so; they had him killed! We have a real devious bunch up
there I can assure reminiscent of all the people that ran into an unfortunate
end! Thanks Folks and we will be using our worthless dollars to wipe our ass

does the 4 millon become worthless
it is fun watching the repubs implode,

CHAD(Missing or Hanging?)
Disney World is on Land that is actually it's own sovereignty.
Hard to believe maybe, BUT it is outside the US, while being very much inside.
It was part of an arrangement Walt set-up with the Government. See, Walt
wanted to be able to allow people from ALL over the World, without ANY
interferience. Sort of like what Dubai is trying to do today.
As soon as Dr.No has his own Private and Sovereign place for all the little
Dr. No-ites to follow him to, HE can make all the money he wants. The World
Bank, the Markets, and the FEC will still insist on regulating any trade of it
though!

I suspect this raid order came from the top from the bankers who control this
country. Ron Paul is stepping on their turf now. They would just as quickly
put a bullet in his head than to let him have his way, this is the bankers
mafia and they won't let anyone bring them down....at least not if they can
help it.

I do support this Action by the FBI. I find it hard to believe anyone is
surprised. The group stated that it wanted to abolish the Federal Reserve
system and the Internal Revenue Service. We each have the responsiblility to
pay our taxes and seek changes through legislation. Doing things the hard way,
within the law, less chance of getting it hard way.

The two systems (fixed money vs unlimited money) don't sit well with each
other. Something had to give. Ron Paul seems like the only person talking
about change. I think it was a tad foolish to print his likeness on a coin.
Let's not cause "blow back" for Ron.

Disney? Sovereign? Nope. Florida granted them a sort of municipal status back

solidly part of Florida and the US. And nobody bypasses Immigration or Customs
to go to Disney.

Very misleading Title---wouldn't by any chance be deliberate??? This has
nothing to do with the campaign except it does kind of reinforce the message!
This action is totally wrong---are they going to confiscate Princess Di
"coins" too? I think the truth is that this private money really shows what
worthless crap a Federal Reserve note is. We need President Paul to get our
liberties AND our finances the way they should be.

The Federal Reserve has just declared war on the American People and the media
is unconscious. This is truly unbelievable. The question that every
presidential candidate should be asked is Do the American people have a choice
in the currency they use to settle private transactions? It is a yes or no
question. These are scary times when the obvious is avoided at all costs and
the inane given non stop coverage.

this is a legal method of changing the system competing currencies are
entirely legal otherwise the fbi would seize my supply of euros, that i bought
to hedge against the falling dollar or mabye my regan commemorative coin made
by an independant company AND backed by gold, but hey i also bought a ron paul
silver dollar so i'm up 180 bucks (not 150 get, your facts sraight) but hey
maybe they'll raid the regan commemorative coin center and i'll get even more
money( and if i'm realy lucky they'll raid europe for creating a competing
currency) but until they do i'll just sit here in righteous indignation at the
europeans belief that they are allowed to mint a competing currency(also if
disneyland is a soveriegn nation why do they pay taxes in the u.s.

The mail and wire fraud would because they are selling the dollars that they
claim are a fraud.
Bernanke is throwing a fit because Ron Paul about brought him to tears with
the truth. Your choice is to inflate the currency and rob from people or let
the bubble burst.
"The goal of NORFED is to undermine the United States government's financial
systems by the issuance of a non-governmental competing currency for the
purpose of repealing the Federal Reserve and Internal Revenue Code,"
That does not make it illegal!
That is not a illegal goal. It would only be illegal if the used non legal
means to do it such as violence. This is a legal means that many communities
use.
They are not cheeting on taxes or breaking any law. They know it.
Stealing people Gold and Silver. Since when is owning Gold illlegal?
They just prove the point.
Don't only donate but also tell people every day about the message of liberty.

In his first Presidential campaign, FDR specifically promised to maintain the
gold standard, and then promptly reneged the following year, 1933,when he
falsely accused Americans, who were literally paid in gold up to that time-
the dollar was an exchangeable receipt for it- who happened to keep bullion of
being "hoarders." In this regard it is worth noting that when he set up the
Warm Springs (polio rehab.) Foundation, FDR made a loan to it specifically
repayable in gold. But this was too good for ordinary Americans- it is time we
stood up for ourselves. A gold standard is not even necessary- but some
standard to establish a definite value for the dollar is demanded by any
self-respecting human being. The dollar has lost 25% in one year against that
of our northern neighbors, who at least have the common sense to balance their
budget and are not forced to inflate their currency. Putting a stop to
unconstitutionally declared wars and maintaining the intent of the
Constitution to have a dollar of clearly defined value is a top priority.

Maybe it's worthwhile to remember that JFK signed a presidential order to
create new US dollars, backed by silver bullions, to limite the powers of the
Fed. He did that just ten days before his execution. The presidential order
still stands, but since then none dares to comply with it...
Maybe it's also time to ask the question: Where lies the ral power? At he
government ant the politicians, or at the banks who buy (and own)them?

Looking at this tells me that the people just do not know their constitution.
The purpose of the constitution? To protect your LIFE, LIBERTY, AND PROPERTY.
This was someones property. It is also their liberty. Why was government
created? To defend and uphold the constitution which protects your life, your
liberty and your property. AND that is the ONLY thing the government is to
supposed to do.
Most people do not understand that when you fear your government you have
tyranny. When your government fears you, then you have freedom.
Where are the patriots?
Did your congressman or senator vote for the patriot act?
When they took that oath before they took their their seat in washington, they
were in effect signing a contract with you to defend and protect your life,
your liberty, and your property. The patriot act VIOLATES 4th, 5th, and 6th
ammendment of the constitution which they took an oath to defend and uphold.
Now what do you call it when you lie under oath? Perjury. So every single
senator and congressman who signed the patriot act committed a crime. They
failed you on on their solemn promise to protect your constitution.
Some might have done this unknowingly, but then why take that oath if you
don't understand your constitution. If they did understand it and they did it
anyway, then they committed the crime of perjury. They not only should not be
in congress or the senate, they should be in jail.
Do you think that just because George w. Bush says the constitution, OUR
constitution is no longer in effect just because he says so? NO !! The
constitution will ALWAYS be OURS as long as we as humans want it to.
Our founding fathers did not fight a bloody, gruesome battle only to let
government take away what is rightfully ours. We did not have to do anything
to gain these rights and liberties which are ours. We INHERITED them. all we
had to do was grow up.
THE CONSTITUTION. IT'S THE LAW. THE SUPREME LAW OF THE LAND.
Are you all aware of what the ten planks of the communist manifesto are. Do
you know that all ten planks are operating in the USA today?
The government is not of, for, and by the people. The true government of this
land, the land we live in, IS the people. WE ARE THE GOVERNMENT. WE DECIDE
WHAT IS RIGHT FOR US NOT THE GOVERNMENT. WE DON'T BOW TO SOME KINGS FEET! but
that is what they have been doing for eons. Taking away our rights and our
liberties and our property.
There is a person on the web who is constitutional expert who is out here for
everyone and trying to explain what is really up. His name is Michael
Badnarik. You can find his classes on Utube.
If you don't believe in the constitution then you don't believe in America. If
you don't know the constitution you need to. Before we have some dictator
saying "off with his head" which is very close to happening. Every single
thing we have the government controls. This is not right. The government does
not own America. WE do.
Check out the voting records of your senators and your congressmen. See who is
against you and who is for you. Then call them, email them, write them and let
them when you approve or disapprove of what they are doing. THAT is YOUR duty
as a an american and as a patriot.
Don't lose you country. Watch these guys. They are not there to make you
happy. They are there to make your life as miserable as they possibly can.

Where is the outrage? Had armed agents of the Bush Justice Dept seized two
tons of souvenir Hillary Clinton Bronze medallions do you think the Media
would have mentioned it? Of course, there would be non stop coverage for
weeks. Some press we have in this country.

lies. Most Americans including our Congressmen donot understand our country's
laws. Go to www.teamlaw.org to get the real story.

The difference between Disney and NotHaus is intent. The thought police are
here. And they have guns. Where is the gun control crowd on this?
The difference between the FEDS and OJ is that OJ was claiming property he
knew to be his.

Spread the word far and wide. There's a new TOLL-FREE number for all Ron Paul
Patriots to hand out to their Grandparents, older neighbors...anyone that
doesn't have the internet that wants to get on board the Ron Paul Freedom
Train by giving money (now, on December 16th., or anytime in the future).
Older folks don't have the internet as much, and also are less willing to give
out their credit card info online. They are, however, more willing to call a
toll-free number (that costs them nothing to do so).
Please include this number from here on in with ALL your Ron Paul marketing
efforts. Dial 1-877-RON-PAUL for Liberty. That 1-877-766-7285.

"Insurgent" essentially means rebellion. Why Mr.MacGillis do you describe the
astute people exercising their birth right of choice denigrate them like this?
against whom is this rebellion? Your piece is reasonable but for this barbs
against Mr. Paul and his supporters.

You all need a clue. A currency other than provided sounds like something a
terrorist would think of. What gives you the right to support alternative
currency within the United States? This is exactly why we have the patriot
act. I hope you all end up getting your email watched and all arrested for
conspiracy. Rights can be remoked if you abuse them. It's like school, but in
the USA you start out with an A+ grade. Only you can move it to an F.

One more note, we are in a global (say it with me G L O B A L economy). One
world with common set of values. A farmer in china now the same as a farmer in
USA. Programmer in USA same as programmer in India - Get it? Banks are tied
together internationally. Alternative currency disrupts that and increases the
chance for war and so on. Try peace and security for a change.

"The Constitution is just a goddam piece of paper" -- George Bush
And a Federal Reserve Note is just another piece of paper.
The status of the Federal Reserve Note is enforced at the point of a gun, even
in contravention of our laws.
And the Constitution contains within it the Second Amendment, to give it the
ability to be enforced at the point of a gun as well, even though laws be
passed to prohibit it.
More ominously, the Declaration of Independence lays out the grounds for a
people to shake off government force.
Insurgents, indeed!
Ron Paul's candidacy presents an opportunity for the American people to
recover the sanity of our constitutional form of government through peaceful
means. We can see now that the political-banking New World Order machine has
no concern for such niceties.

The government robs the peaceful productive savers for decades through
inflation but now it is suggested that anyone trying to protect themselves
from Federal Reserve created inflation is a T-word!? Where does Hitlery find

Goose stepping traitors are trying to destroy our country incrementally, and
the American people are finally waking up!
The individual DOES matter, The government belongs to US, not to AIPAC or
globalist bankers like Rockefeller or Rothschilds.
ALL of Ron Paul's donations come from real people, unlike Hillary's or Obama's
or Rudy's or Romney's or McCain's or Edward's, where much of theirs comes from
Wall street and the Military industrial complex.
Ron Paul can't be bought by Special Interest groups. Any candidate who takes
money from these groups is their puppet.

To ycornc and others that have not done your due dilegence reguarding this
country and our Constitution, Declaration of Independence, and the rule of
law,
Your ignorance is showing!
"If ye love wealth more than liberty, and the tranquility of servitude more
than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not
your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May
your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were ever
our countrymen."

--"I like Ron Paul's opposition to the Iraq war, but his supporters seem to be
the sort of people who are always looking for black helicopters overhead."--
Did you think of that yourself, or are you repeating what you've already heard
on the news?
It's a brilliant piece of propaganda - anyone who questions the source
seemingly proves the premise.
All someone like you has to do is repeat what you've heard on TV without
thinking about it. And then when someone actually does think about it, you
dismiss them with a slanderous association - like black helicopters - just
like the TV did.

What Is wrong with you? You created a headline that gives the impression that
Ron Paul created these coins, and then call American Voters insurgents for
supporting a candidate that brings a new message.
With the dollar falling, debt going out the roof, failure of social programs,
incompetence of the government to handle emergency situations is it so radical
to think that Americans want change?
Don't ever call us insurgents again.

Try playing the board game Monopoly with this change of the rules.
Eliminate the central bank being the only source of loans and mortgages.
Allow loans between players. Each time a player passes GO he makes an
installment payment on all his outstanding loans. Payment size is negotiable
with whoever holds his note.
Establish a Real Estate Investment Trust mutual money fund and require each
player to make a deposit in any amount each time they pass go. Keep track of
balance accrued for each player. Allow any player who lands directly on Go to
decide if the Mutual Fund can buy any property on the board at its face value
including improvements if made by another player. The mutual fund has to have
sufficient cash funds to cover the sale and the deed is placed in control of
the Mutual Fund. The Mutual Fund cannot sell properties it holds to cover the
purchase.
Whenever a player lands on a property owned by the Mutual Fund, the rent paid
is apportioned to the current balances based on relative percent of fund
shares owned. When a player lands on vacant property, he can use his account
balance in the mutual fund to buy the property. He cannot use his fund balance
to buy property held by another player.
The Mutual Fund can vote to hold an auction sale to liquidate deeds held by
the fund.
Switch the objective of the game from driving out all competition and leaving
only one player standing. The game objective is to fully develop all
properties until all the game pieces representing development are on the board
or all the currency is gone from the central bank as it depletes from players
passing GO. Create new game pieces to represent movie theaters, factories,
shopping malls, or amusement parks to add to the homes and hotels. Play stops
when the central bank is empty of currency. Or if you want to continue play,
have every remaining player pay a flat tax on all the currency they hold. No
tax on property assets or mutual fund balance.
There is the possibility for a player or two to go bust during the course of
play but in the end there will be several players left. The winner is who has
the highest net worth of the remaining players.
A free economy works rather nicely without a central bank charging interest on
the currency issued.
We really don't need the Federal Reserve.
You will appreciate this if you play Monopoly with the rules outlined above.
The players, not the central bank, are the real wealth definers.
Break the Monopoly of the Federal Reserve!
Elect Ron Paul. He will guide us in the creation of new game rules for Our the
Peoples economy.

Most pundits keep us distracted and at each other's throats battling about

That's a Benjamin Franklin quote, not Jefferson.
Silver is silver regardless of the image on it. Better get all the silver and
gold you can before this economy sinks like the Titanic. The Fed is in a
panic. I'm sure they will not return this stolen property.
Posted by: machtigr10 | November 17, 2007 05:21 PM
If the seizure of Ron Paul "Liberty Dollars" was politically motivated, it
sure backfired.
I take issue with the agent's assertion that "The goal of NORFED is to
undermine the United States government's financial systems".
The goal of undermining our financial system has already been accomplished by
the Federal Reserve, which has succeeded in devaluing the dollar by more than
95% over the course of its career. That lost purchasing power didn't just
disappear; it represents a transfer of wealth from workers, savers and small
business to investment bankers, their corporate clients and the government.
Posted by: wgaryjohnson | November 17, 2007 05:21 PM
Hate to argue semantics with someone on the same side, machtigr10, but we are
both right. Both Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin made similar
statements. I was paraphrasing Tom's quote...the full quote is as follows:
"A society that will trade a little liberty for a little order will lose both
and deserve neither.
If a nation expects to be both ignorant and free in a state of civilization,
it expects what never was and never will be." Thomas Jefferson
Ben's quote was: ""They who can give up essential liberty to purchase a little
temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. "
- Benjamin Franklin
very similar quotes
You can GOOGLE it.

http://quinnell.us/politics/quotes.html
http://thinkexist.com/quotation/a_society_that_will_trade_a_little_liberty_for_a/180724.html
Essentially, it doesn't matter...both quotes stand on their own merit. I just
wanted to clarify that I am not a complete idiot....partial, we can argue.

Last May I posted the following to the great derision of many others:
"As far as Dr. Paul goes, this is the best break the guy could get. IF his
activities ever REALLY became a threat to the status quo instead of being an
unimportant impotent side show in Nowhere, Texas; the PIPS (People In Power)
will simply have him killed using one of their "lone gunmen"; "small plane or
airline crashes"; "unexplained single car accidents" or, if they REALLY need
to undermine his credibility they will target him with some kind of scandal
and then "suicide" him."
Well, your apologies are all now accepted -- it appears the Feds are going the
scandal demise route -- so much the better for Ron Paul's health. Of course,
they still will exercise the "extreme prejudice" option if that does not work.
You REALLY have to be a propeller head to believe that the PIPS (People In
Power) will give up all their wealth and privileges because of a vote. It does
NOT take a rocket scientist to figure out that those who are willing to level
cities; murder millions; lie, cheat, steal, murder, etc., etc. will not
suddenly become honest at the voting booth.
If you believe that, I still have some Golden Gate Bridge stock available for
a great price... :)

Look, whatever your position on this, there is an alternative to these liberty
dollars if you really think the USD is to tank further.
Foreign currency for example, there are plenty of other nations in this world
and it is not illegal to hold considerable sums of foreign currency.
China's can be difficult to acquire as China doesn't allow trading, but it is
bound to go up in value at some point. At some point their people won't want
the RMB tied to the USD.
Canada's loonie is heading up. The Euro seems pretty strong. If you want to go
really nuts, you could buy actual gold.
Otherwise, you're all nuts. The dollar will rise again.
Posted by: wraithofwonder | November 17, 2007 06:20 PM
The world has a de facto standard for currency, a barrel of oil.
The real reason the Fed puppet masters want to attack Iran is because Iran set
up an exchange to trade oil in the euro.
China refusing to float the yuan and refusing entry of foreign banks into
China is also stressing the Fed puppet masters.
The Saudis are also thinking of switching trade to the petro-euro.
The Muslim world gets along fine with China and China needs oil for its
economic expansion.
China dumps dollar for euros to trade with Muslims. The Fed puppet masters now
have hyper inflation in US economy caused by plummeting dollar.
The American Sheeple will revolt when gasoline hits $10 a gallon and the
Chinese products flooding the store shelves double in price.
It will be a peaceful revolt as we create personal wealth by cutting our
dollar bills into 4, 8, 16 pieces to use as a basis of exchange. Ten dollars
for a gallon of gas, then take 5 ones, cut them in two, hand them to the
cashier, walk away, get in your car and drive off. There are not enough police
or national guard(as they are all in Iraq) to round up all the citizens who
have defined their own currency.
The fed will close the banks to cut off the supply to their monopoly money
therefore open an account in a credit union to get more play money to cut up.
We the People are in charge, not the Fed puppet masters.
Posted by: Scrooge | November 17, 2007 06:48 PM
That's very interesting. Hmmmmmm, the people can't have money backed by real
gold and silver if its minted by somebody else?. That is a federal crime?

I must agree with the astute person who observed that issues like this reveal
how far out of the mainstream many of Ron Paul's supporters are. For example:
•The tickets or other trade mechanisms used at some music and cultural
festivals or at amusement parks are paid for with legitimate U.S. currency.
So, they are merely a convenience, not an attempt to compete with or replace
legitimate American currency.
•The liberty dollar business is just a profit making enterprise run by an
individual. To be profitable. von NotHaus must sell his products for more than
their actual value on the medals market. Many of the purchasers do not realize
the face value of the so-called alternative currency is false. That is why
charges of fraud are appropriate. Furthermore, liberty dollar instructions
urge buyers to try to use the coins in place of legitimate American currency.
•There is no proof that liberty dollars or other private currencies are backed
by stores of precious metals as the people running the businesses claim. One
of the things we may learn from this case is just how much precious metal von
NotHaus actually has on hand. (I will wager that it is much less than he
claims.)
•Private currencies, even if legal, would be used as a way to avoid paying
taxes. So, there is no scenario in which their existence is not suspect.
Feel free to carry on with the conspiracy theories.
