The USA is like a rampaging rogue elephant killing everthing in
its path - the most dangerous beast on the planet. At this point
nobody has a big enough gun to kill it because the U.S. is
spending more on weapons and its military than ALL of the rest of
the world COMBINED! Little wonder that it's able to thumb it's
proboscis at the world and terrorize other countries at will.
A ferocious beast like this has a HUGE appetite - for the money
that's needed to sustain such an enormous military machine. But,
the amazing thing is that this beast relies upon others to feed
it. The U.S. is the largest debtor nation on earth. It runs
huge current trade and budgetary deficits which are financed by
foreigners - especially Europeans.
According to a recent book by Emmanuel Todd, 'After the Empire' :
"To pay for this deficit, the US needs to keep importing foreign
capital," he says. "If this capital flow were to stop, the US
economy would collapse. Despite the repeated claims about US
power, the truth is that this country is both a beggar and
predator. This cannot last very long."
So, those of you in Europe [and other countries] who are worried that
the elephant is now totally out of control and - after it crushes
Iraq - will be rampaging through yet more countries, you should demand
that your governments and financial instititions in your countries
STOP FEEDING THE BEAST. Tell them to quit buying U.S. government
bonds and other U.S.- based financial assets NOW. If the elephant's
food supply is cut off, it will have no choice but to stop its
rampage.

People used to invest in our Treasury bonds because we were a stable
democracy with a responsible government.

Take it easy. It already happening. In order to start up this gasping
economy, Alan Greenspan had been lowering the Fed rates which affect
commercial rates. Presently, the rates are below what everyone else in the
world are offering and the dollar value has been shrinking in comparison
making it a poor buy.
Congress has been begging him to lower the rates again but he is afraid of
inflation and the inability of selling T-Bonds when we are creating debt at
record levels, WWII levels, and we're not even fighting a united fascist
Europe, it's just little ol' disarmed Iraq!
5% GDP. No more relatively than, say, Japan. We just have more money to
spend, and a lot more to lose.
Lets see... who would be in trouble in a trade war with the USA. Like Duh,
everyone else. If Americans bought only US products, the world would partly
collapse and the USA would have a better trade balance.
Already, Canadians are suffering greatly due to the anti-American sentiment.
US corporations are canceling meetings, seminars and conventions in Canada.
This has a huge effect on the tourist and hotel business. They are in pain
now. This has a snowball effect. Canada is one of the USA's largest trading
partner.
A pro-American protest was staged in Canada, recently.
Below are some French products used in the USA.
I do not advocate boycotts because they hurt people in country selling the
products. To boycott McDonalds in France, is to deny local workers their
due. Some may be laid off as a result. McDonalds are a franchise and bought
by locals and with products sold to only locals. To make a statement, one
could buy the product and just destroy it for sheer pleasure, on local TV.
Like the some in the US did with French wine. Just buy it and pour it in the
sewer. This would show displeasure, while helping innocent citizens.

Where did you get these figures?
Perhaps you should take a course in economics at a local college.
Then you'd understand that if the US economy collapses, all others on
the planet will go with it.

Quite true. These ignorant clowns - obviously a product of the
totally ruined American public education system - don't have a
clue that much of their industrial base has been dismantled and
moved to China and elsewhere. They are already at the mercy of
the corporate globalist gangsters who will turn off the flow of
goodies if the American serfs don't do exactly as they're told.
IBM, Boing, Northrup, Martin Marietta, Westinghouse, GE, Ford, GM, Intel,
Texas Instruments, etc. Any one of these companies has a budget larger than
many European countries. Shall I continue?
What do you see happening in the next 5-10 years, Marinus? I'd be interested
to hear your thoughts on this (We already know that deficits of more than 3
trillion dollars have been forecast in the next two years). Does it depend
on who wins the next election, or is the die pretty much cast already?

Mark D.
