Hostess, union agree to mediation to avert shutdown

Hostess Brands Inc. and the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and
Grain Millers International Union have agreed to mediation, stopping
the planned shut down and liquidation of the Irving-based company.
Hostess Brands will enter into confidential mediation with a union
that represents about 30 percent of its workforce on Tuesday.

A spokeswoman for Hostess said that a Monday afternoon hearing in
bankruptcy court has been adjourned until Wednesday at 11 a.m.

The Hostess spokeswoman said the company is following a request from
the judge in the bankruptcy case to enter into confidential mediation
with the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers
International Union. A strike by the union that began Nov. 9 helped
prompt Hostess' Nov. 16 request to be liquidated.

Hostess pies used to be good. Now they are hollow rocks.

They messed up bigtime when they went from a real sliced apple, real

No, the crust was better.
I remember as a kid back in the 60s loving the hell out of the Apple
pies.
As stated tbhey contained real apple slices in the filling and the
crust was moist and pliable and very tasty to an 8 year old.
Last time I tried one, around 10 years ago, it had a hard crust that
had more of a cake type consistency, filled with the apple preserves I
mentioned and had a big huge air pocket in it.
Only snacks Ive bought made by Hostess in recent decades have been the
cupcakes, "King Don's" (Originally "Ding Dongs") and the Honey Buns.
Used to like the Bannana Flips but they became impossible to find
around here. Not sure if they even still made those anymore.

Worst product they ever made IMHO? Those gawd awful Snowballs.
Basically a round Twinkie covered in coconut. Typically used to make
cakes for batchelor parties and such as they were perfect for use as
tits on the classic female cake. And of course every St Patricks Day
they would produce a bunch of the green ones.
That's one product of theirs that I definitely won't miss.

I am truly impressed with the knowledge of snack food items to be
found on this board.
Where else can you find this stuff, folks?
