Daley sees red flag in '04 election losses

Chicago, IL, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley has taken
the Democratic Party to task, Opinion Journal reported Monday, in the
wake of its '04 election defeat.

The son of Chicago's legendary Richard J. Daley -- whose name was once
synonymous with the term Democratic insider -- said the the 2004
election reflects a political change on the order of what occurred
under Franklin D. Roosevelt and John F. Kennedy.

"You talk about Roosevelt. You talk about Kennedy. And you have to
talk about Bush. You have to give credit to his discipline, to the
message he stayed on line. People made fun. They underestimated him
all the time. He showed them all," Daley said.

But the thrust of his complaints, wrote the Opinion Journal Political
Diary's John Fund, is that Washington's Democratic insiders let
Republicans "become the party of average Americans" and relegated the
Democrats to being the party of large donors."

Daley blames the loss on "elitists" inside the party, Fund wrote, for
having, "too long ridiculed people of faith."

"They don't like people who have different beliefs than they do, who
maybe read the Bible, read the Koran," Daley said in an interview.
"They were shoved out, not to be respected."

The criticism has, Fund wrote, "been greeted with less-than-respectful
rejoinders inside the Beltway, with one member of the Democratic
National Committee calling them 'dancing on the party's grave.'"

Ah, yes, unlike the wise Republican party, which is known for its tolerance
of Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Atheists, et al. If only the Democrats could be
as welcoming of people of all religions as the Republicans, maybe we'd have
a chance. Strange, though, how the Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Atheists, et al,
all seem to vote Democratic already...

What a moron. The *Republican* party is the party of religious intolerance.
Religion is like that Model T to them: you can be any religion, as long as
it's (White Protestant) Christian.

Yeah? Well, at least I can write properly. Also, I hardly think that
sleazebag should be considered a paragon of correctness and honesty.

>You silly twits would much rather think you are right

No, I would rather *be* right and lose than be wrong and win. I have
principles. Clearly, I'm not a politician. If all you're interested in is
winning, then you'd fit right in in politics. I'm interested in what's
right.

>When someone from your own party tries to help you, you simply regurgitate

Please. Mayor Daley isn't altruistically trying to "help" anyone but
himself. This whole statement was, from beginning to end, designed to
pander to any people in Chicago who might have thought that Daley wasn't
"Christian" enough. He takes the Democrats to task for something they
haven't done in order to score points in his home town. Typical, lying
politician.

You tell 'em, Richard! Not that they will listen, but it is worth a
try. I can imagine them within the Beltway, "A mayor! How vulgar!
He actually lets those people TOUCH him! No wonder he says such
things..."

Would that the Donkey party WAS dead.

One more election like this and we can all piss on its headstone.

Leave it to a cocksucking Democrat to attempt a "Straw Man" fallacy.

It didn't work, cunt.

Now be a good boy and drink your "Grape Kool-aid."

But you can't THINK or DEBATE properly.

Democunt faggots like you think that you can win arguments by creating a
straw man or red herring factoid and then arguing it.

The story is about what a prominent Democrat thinks you did wrong, not what
Republicans are or are not (in this case).

Now be a good boy and bend over so I can kick your skinny ass again....Turd!

Uh, actually he doesn't let the unwashed masses get anywhere near him. His
very large personal detail of Chicago cops keeps 'The People' far away from
him. Any images of him being "touched" are photo-ops.

What's more, his tax increases and continuing scandals are going to lead to
a voter backlash -- which will fail because the machine still cheats during
elections.

If the Democrats lose Chicago, or even a big part of it, I don't see
that they will ever have hope of winning the presidency again.

I lived in Chicago for 10 years and I voted for Daley, and also for
Harold Washington, even though I am a Republican because I thought
they would be the best for the city. I can assure you that many,
probably most, Chicago Democrats are sincere Christians; many others
are Jewish or Muslim and also very religious.

Uh, no, oh stupid one, this story is about what a prominent Democrats thinks
happened with respect to the Republican and Democratic parties's ways of
dealing with "people of faith". Ironically, you are trying to use a straw
man argument against me. Enjoy the crow, moron-boy.

You consider that playing? Small things amuse small minds. Masturbation

I would suggest to you my altruistic friend that by helping the party it
helps him in the long run. You can think what you want to think and you can
be right forever, but unless you can attain a position of authority being
right gets you nowhere.
