More cracks in the embattled Democratic Party were exposed earlier this
week when a Hillary Clinton book entry concerning black inmates
resurfaced online.
Woke Bernie Bros and Gals erupted in outrage over a passage from the two-
time failed presidential candidate's 1996 book, It Takes a Village, which
recalled Hillary and then-Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton's time in the
governor's mansion, specially their use of (likely unpaid) black prison
inmate labor on their grounds. As you might suspect, accusations of
exploitation and racism flew.
“When we moved in, I was told that using prison labor at the governor’s
mansion was a longstanding tradition, which kept down costs,” says the
passage, adding that Hillary was even friendly with “a few of them,
African-American men in their thirties who had already served 12 to 18
years of their sentences.”
"We enforced rules strictly and sent back to prison any inmate who broke
a rule," Hillary writes. The men didn't have “inferior IQs or an
inability to apply moral reasoning," she adds, but they might have been
“emotional illiterates.”
