hypocrite, asshole. (into which many of the above will fit)
===============================================

The political right is popularly associated with the following principles. Of course, it
goes without saying that these are generalizations, and not every person on the far
right believes in every principle, or disbelieves its opposite. Most people's political
beliefs are complex, and cannot be neatly pigeonholed. This is as true of Hitler as
anyone. But since the far right is trying peg Hitler as a leftist, it's worth reviewing the
tenets popularly associated with the right. These include:

Individualism over collectivism.
Racism or racial segregation over racial tolerance.
Eugenics over freedom of reproduction.
Merit over equality.
Competition over cooperation.
Power politics and militarism over pacifism.
One-person rule or self-rule over democracy.
Capitalism over Marxism.
Realism over idealism.
Nationalism over internationalism.
Exclusiveness over inclusiveness.
Meat-eating over vegetarianism.
Gun ownership over gun control
Common sense over theory or science.
Pragmatism over principle.
Religion over secularism.

Well, at least you verge on being reasonable and honest in your little disclaimer here. It is
awfully convenient how every single issue in your worldview fits neatly intoa "Category A or
Category B" binary choice. Must be nice that everything is really as simple as "us good, them
bad."

I'm sure there's very little point to it, but I do have to question some of your tenets
below...

Eugenics? How do you equate pro-life (or antiabortion, take your pick) with eugenics?
Wouldn't the (in general) right wing view that abortion is bad and that every child ought to be
carried to term and brought into the world be the very antithesis of any sort of eugenics
program?

> Merit over equality.

And what's wrong with this? Equality of opportunity is a desirable goal, yes. Equality under
the law is a necessity. Equality of outcome is neither.

Both are important values; this is certainly not a left vs. right issue.

> Power politics and militarism over pacifism.

Pacifism sounds great, but it wouldn't have been a good strategy against, say, Hitler. The
right - no, the DUTY - of an indicidual to protect his/her life and that if his/her family,
and of a nation to defend its existence against those who would threaten it is fundamental to
any kind of human civilization.

I'm not sure what you mean by "self-rule" here.

> Capitalism over Marxism.

Yes, and why is that a problem?

The right has no monopoly on this, nor on "pragmatism over principle", which might as well be
the motto of the Clinton administration.

> Nationalism over internationalism.
> Exclusiveness over inclusiveness.

Yes. Do you not trust your fellow citizens? That's the fundamental truth of gun control: you
don't trust your neighbor. What else don't you trust him to do?

> Common sense over theory or science.

Which can sometimes be a good thing. Not always, certainly, but sometimes.

So? One of the basic principles of this country is freedom of religion. Religion is a part of
the lives of the majority of the world's population. It should not be scoffed at. (nor should
it run the country, I'll be the first to agree with that)
