1) For the first time since 1974 the Senate has failed to pass the
national budget. President Bush's national budget has been collecting
dust on Senator Daschle's desk for several months now. Daschle's failure
to pass the budget results in national deficits.
2) Daschle said "no" to America's Seniors when he refused to pass the
tri-partisan AARP supported prescription drug plan. Daschle would prefer
to hold an issue over for the elections than to cover those seniors in
need.
3) Thanks to Daschle the nation is in a judicial crisis. He would prefer
to pander to the special interest groups than to appoint judges which
are badly needed in our court system.
4) Homeland Security remains held up in the senate. The same democrats
who insisted that airport security be taken out of the hands of private
security and be federalized in the name of flexibility now insist that
the unions be in control of ou Homeland Security. This impedes the
effectiveness of Homeland Security even more than if it had remained in
the private sector. Democrats are using our Homeland Security to add to
their constituents through unions. That's putting politics above the
security of the American people.
5) Daschle denied poor minority children the same school choice that
rich kids now have. To deny poor minorities the right to choose to
receive the same quality of eduacation is not only irresponsible but a
form of class/racial segregation as well. Leadership requires something
more than protecting the special interest groups of the few. It requires
submerging the partisan interests of the few in the greater good of the
many. Letting the business of the nation languish for the purpose of
political gain isn't leadership, it's gamesmanship, and the Majority
leader owes the American people an apology for putting politics above
