Why Belac, Why?
Why, as you were growing up
did you smash every plate of china
and every tea cup?
I gave you the finest of moral instruction!
Why do you continue your path of destruction?
Bad sons, many a good womb has born,
But you, little monster, have Devil's horns
On your knees, your sins must confess
I had taught you Republican Selflessness
To cause violence to none
After wars of necessity had been won
To end the senseless strife
By death penalty, we best revere life
I gave your name from a Book of Moses
A paragon of virtue, whose remedy proposes
cleanliness, and malice toward none
and death by stoning, to every unruly son
I taught you to cherish our liberties
as your name implies
The land was ours to seize
The slaughter we made was not perdition
For we did it all, with God's permission
Perhaps there is Truth that the Bible had not mentioned
How Hell is paved, with our best of intentions
Behold Black Belac, Beatle-booted
Begirt, bebooted, and bebuckler'd

Those writing about the subject often display ELS by writing
down the section of Torah containing the ELS with lines as long
as the spacing of the ELS or with a length a few letters longer
or shorter than this spacing. That way, the ELS appears as a
straight up and down vertical or as a neat diagonal (see Figure
1 which only shows part of the long lines used horizontally).
Please don't lose sight of the fact that this method of display
has no special significance although it could make you forget
the large spacings sometimes involved. One is allowed to look
for ELS going forwards or backwards; indeed, both ELS in Figure
1 run backwards.
I explicitly asked Professor Rips this question and he admitted
it was an interesting question to which he didn't have an answer.
If it isn't possible to disprove, then the hypothesis is not a
scientific hypothesis. This is not to say that statistical
analysis can't be a valid way to analyze what might be going on,
but without the possibility of disproving a hypothesis, that
hypothesis is outside the realm of science as we understand it.
Some presentations have made much of a letter of approbation
signed by four distinguished mathematicians (Joseph Bernstein,
then of Harvard, now of Tel Aviv University, Hillel Furstenberg
of Hebrew University, David Kazhdan of Harvard and Ilya
Piatestski-Shapiro of Tel Aviv University and Yale). Three of
these are Orthodox and I'd be hard pressed to find a more
distinguished group of Orthodox mathematicians.
But their letter is very carefully worded to state nothing more
than that they find the Famous Rabbis experiment interesting and
worthy of further study. Professor Rips himself told me that he
didn't think any of them were convinced of its validity and that
is certainly true of the two of them I know and consulted.
Indeed, Kazhdan's response to the presentation of his position
on the above website (Kazhdan was the chairman of the Harvard
Mathematics Department at the time the page was prepared) was
that "I am sorry to see my position in such a distorted form."

march 22
i woke up at 9am, dont know what to do.....bored! i thought of
texting fides so we can go to the mall and buy some stuff but on
second thought, i juz stayed home and went to banawe to get
spring (my mom's pome dog cuz it was confined for some sort of
sickness). then i took a bath and watched tv. it was alrdy 6pm
when fides and karina arrived here at our house. we went to doni's
place and just literally ambushed him without no particular
reason! hehe. doni's place is near so we went back home to eat
dinner. then, my other HS frnds started to arrive. doni came
then followed by majelle, john, bvin, fletch and gorio. i was
exploring karina's new phone when my phone started ringing. it
was benz, he told me he was alrdy outside our house. and to my
surprise, he was really there. he gave me a bouquet of white
roses, a dog stuff toy and a hair brush (he told me it was
really for me kse sobrang lagi nyang ginugulo hair ko! ang harot
kse!!!). then tin came with jason. what a nice couple. two
beautiful people in a relationship! hehe. then mymy, then agee
then jt (yey! thnx for the glow enhancer! wabyuuu!), then jeff
and laslty, jig and tammie. im so glad they made it. it was a
nice nice thing they've done. everyone else was teasing me that
the new couple was too hot to handle but in the contrary, it was
really nice. i knew jig would find somone so perfect for him.
and i told him that, he agreed! newaiz, the dinner was a blast!
i had so much fun! but unfortunately, there are some peepz i
really wanted to see who didnt come cuz of some reasons. i felt
sad knowing that the 2 best best buds of my life weren't able to
even drop by. kang said she was really sorry cuz she had to be
in an impt family affair and can't even go out for a while. i
perfectly understand, pro shemps im such a tampururot! hehehe!
but in je's case, i was really upset. basta, i dont wanna talk
about it.
after the dinner in my place, some of my friends already went
home. oh, i juz remembered, i want to say sorry to fides. her
car's skirt was totally devastated! she parked it and we heard a
minor crash, i told her it was nothing but when she's about to
go home, half of the car's skirt was lying on the road. benz,
agee and j had to use some screw drivers to pull the skirt so it
won't be of any bother when fides drives home. i was so guilty!
newaiz, me, my, tin, benz and j accompanied agee to his place so
he can change clothes. then, we went to pravda.

Biblical curses? Why would that be limited solely to Vampires?
I'm willing to say that mortals can learn and use Theban sorcery,
if they can find someone to teach them. It just uses Willpower,
after all, and everyone's got the same Willpower. Cruac is a
little trickier, since it costs blood, and invokes the power of
Vampiric Vitae specifically. That one, I'd say is Vampiric only.
Belac 09-12-2004, 08:12 PM
Exalted and some similar games:
You have half-naked demi-goddesses running around (especially
the girl on the magic book that could apparently crush cars with
her thighs), and the majority of male soldiers don't hesitate at
all to attack them and call them mean names. (The majority of
soldiers in Exalted aren't male, but out of those that are, you'd
think at least a few would just stop and stare in awe unless
they were directly being attacked.) I'm not an expert on the
subject, but I imagine female soldiers might hesitate to attack
amazingly good-looking men who aren't yet attacking them either.
I mean, this might make sense if the soldiers had some sort of
social or cultural conditioning, such as vows of celibacy or
castration or something, but jeez...you'd think, just once or
twice, a really attractive Exalt who wasn't interested in
murdering conscripts could convince someone to not attack her
(or him) for no good reason, as soldiers normally do.
I mean, really. A straight male who is a conscript or underpaid
hireling who's considered particularly well-trained if he can
figure out how to charge in a straight line when ordered is
faced with a beautiful and really powerful looking woman that
has a glowing magical weapon, is obviously supernaturally
powerful, and doesn't want to fight him. Why in the heck is he
going to go "Die Anathema!" and start swinging his crappy sword?

Name: Australie (Republic of Australie)
Leader/Government: Stadtholder Armand Duvalier
Flag: A diagonal slash separates the halves: Three horizontal
stripes in red, white, and blue, and the arms of the Valois
house of Burgundy.
Military Forces: Army: 90,000 long-service troops, with another
150,000 reservists, plus 100,000 old-style reservists (from the
days of universal conscription 8 years ago). Armored/mechanized
divisions make up 1/5 of total strengh. Air force: 700 fighters,
216 medium bombers, plus two wings of long-range bombers (1970s
technology). Navy: Four battleships with attendant cruisers and
destroyers, nine carriers (each with complement of aircraft
aside from air force total--6 in peacetime drydock), and 25
submarines.
History: After Charles the Bold's victory over the Bernese in
1478, they swore allegiance to him and helped him obtain the
incomparable Swiss infantry with which he defeated the French,
and later provided an overland link to the Languedoc rebels who
his heirs helped gain their independence from France. The center
of gravity of the Kingdom of Burgundy, as it came to be called,
shifted north to the Low Countries, however, as the Reformation
brought both Huguenot refugees and war to Burgundy (as well as
the counterintuitive Navarrese alliance). During the Thirty
Years' War, the Royal Dukedom was overrun, but Burgundy kept up
the fight from Antwerp and, when the Habsburgs had been halted,
King Charles IV moved his capital there. The traditional
alliance with England frayed during the 1600s, and Burgundy lost
its first colony in North America, where ironically the English
would establish their own Carolina, but maintained hold of the
Mississippi and St. Lawrence rivers, discovered by French
Huguenots for the Burgundian crown, as well as the large
southern island known as Janszoon's Land after its discoverer,
Willem Janszoon. The Burgundian colony there thrived as the
continued troubles in France brought immigrants to the more
serene Kingdom, and by 1700, 100 years after its founding,
Janszoon's Land consisted of a prosperous string of settlements
along the southeastern corner and the small island to the south
of that. England, of course, found and claimed the southwestern
corner without realizing it was the same island. When this was
discovered, in 1745, England and Burgundy were once more
drifting into opposite alliances, as England was beginning to
side with the rising star of Prussia against Habsburg Austria,
which Burgundy had become bound to by dynastic marriage. Neither
side, however, was able to conquer the other, though in the wars
that followed the St. Lawrence River fell to England.

CHAP. II.
The Effeminacy of our Men's Dress and Manners, particularly
their Kissing each other.
I am confident no Age can produce any Thing so preposterous as
the present Dress of those Gentlemen who call themselves pretty
Fellows: their Head-Dress especially, which wants nothing but a
Suit of Pinners to make them down right Women. But this may be
easily accounted for, as they would appear as soft as possible
to each other, any Thing of Manliness being diametrically
opposite to such unnatural Practices, so they cannot too much
invade the Dress of the Sex they would represent. And yet with
all this, the present Garb of our young Gentlemen is most mean
and unbecoming. 'Tis a Difficulty to know a Gentleman from a
Footman, by their present Habits: The low- heel'd Pump is an
Emblem of their low Spirits; the great Harness Buckle is the
Height of Affectation; the Silk Waistcoat all belac'd, with a
scurvey blue Coat like a Livery Frock, has something so poorly
preposterous, it quite enrages me; I blush to see 'em aping the
Running Footman, and posing a great Oaken Plant, fitter for a
Bailiff's Follower than a Gentleman. But what renders all more
intolerable, is the Hair strok'd over before and cock'd up
behind, withi a Comb sticking in it, as if it were just ready to
receive a Head Dress: Nay, I am told, some of our Tip top Beaus
dress their Heads on quilted Hair Caps, to make 'em look more
Womanish: so that Master Molly has nothing to do but slip on his
Head Cloaths and he is an errant Woman, his rueful Face excepted;
but even that can be amended with Paint, which is as much in
Vogue among our Gentlemen, as with the Ladies in France.

It may be Notorious-friendly in that I said I have never seen a
personal ad that asked for a short man, but you've still managed
to disqualify me anyway!
You don't drink? I thought you were a dope-smoking rebel against
society's mores or something.
Belac: Although I will BE taller than your average midget, I won't
seem "tall" to one, because your average midget is used to
seeing men who are an average of 5'10! So I'm short by their
standards as well. Though to most midget women I'm probably too
tall, because they're so short they prefer to date only other
TRUE midgets rather than just a short man. I've actually very
rarely come across any midgets, and they've almost all been men
that I have seen.
As for your movie idea: I'm not really interested in being the

Biosteel has always seemed like a cool RPG item for me. I use it
in most of my near-future games.
Anyway, I've heard that there were some major theoretical
problems getting enough biosteel out of a goat to actually be
useful for mass producing things, and I know scientists tend to
be overly optmistic, so I'm going with the 10 years estimate at
least.
