What are you talking about?
He's probably referring to a thirty second follow-up item on ITV's
Tonight programme last night.
I missed the programme they referred to, however it was obviously about
modifying Philips Digi phones to give unlimited call credit.
It appears that BTCellnet are going to do what I suggested some time
ago, and compare call spend with call credit on these phones. This
means that if a phone is credited with GBP50, no more than GBP50 of
calls can be made with it.
It seems that previously BTCellnet let the phone deal with billing
without any checks.
I'd imagine that any phones that spend more than they are credited with
will be disabled, which means all those people who have paid GBP250+ for
"hacked" models now have expensive door stops and paper weights.
The BTCellnet pre-pay GSM phone system has been one "hackers" dream
after another.

Prices for these have been anywhere from 250 to 750 quid. Some give
you 10 quid credit every time you switch on, others give you 20 quid.
One hacker I know of worked with Philips and Cellnet on the
development of their system. According to him, the only way Cellnet
can stop the scam is to revamp the whole system - at a cost which far
exceeds any losses incurred as a result of the scam. No doubt a
commercial decision will be made before any work begins..

Not really since I know of a few users of this "chipped Diga" that cannot
make international calls for "free" since a few nights ago, but they inform
me national still works?!
Weird that.

the best solution is counting the units in center... Our provider Radiomobil
(Paegas 230-01) is smart and counting units via software in center. Other
provider Eurotel (230-02) using counting in phone so Diga Hack maybe working
on this pre-payed cards...
