Is it possible to create a php based search engine that will search
raw html text in a web directory for keywords then return the page
with the keywords as a link to a url?

If so how? Can someone recommend any rescources?

Thanks...

You should find what you need at hotscripts.com - have a look for dgssearch
it will do searches of html/txt files without the need for a database
backend and is highly customisabel.

If you have lots of documents you'll probably need something to index all
the documents to make your searches faster.

Good luck!

In their book PHP Developers Cookbook the writers give a fairly long example
search engine and all the code, and all their comments.
