Hi folks, I signed up with a remote MySQL host. Now, my plan is to use the
database there to create a website using PHP. I have Windows XP Pro running
IIS. I have some questions:

Do I need to install ODBC on my computer?

Do I need to install PHP on my computer?

Do I need to install MySQL on my computer? (I assume yes)

If I wanted to use Dreamweaver MX to develop the pages, should this be
installed last?

Help much appreciated,

Doug

Hi Doug

It's a funny old answer - it depends if you want to do it all on your own
machine or not!
It can be easier to just use a host who had PHP, MySQL and the like
installed - then there isn't that side of things to learn to get a site up
and running - if you are only planning to deploy the odd site then it's the
way forward.... It's also worth nothing there are differences between
running PHP on XP / IIS and Apache / Linux... - so you maybe better to
develop in the environment you plan to deploy on!

anyway, (shameless plug) we offer a 3 free trial if you want a go - see how
you get on without having to install PHP and MySQL first! :-)
