C'mon.... If you truley belive that then you need to shut your computer
down and get out of the house for a while. Yea, Its anoying but there are
alot of things that are worse...

Like raising children to think that if they strap a pile of TNT to there
chest and blow them selves up in a crowed of jews or christians they will be
asured a spot in heaven.

It's just a post in a news group. right click delete and poof it's

At least that (the above) is _definitely_ worse.
There are _infinitely_ _worse_ things than an eBayer advertising on a
newsgroup.

You made an absolutist statement and was given and example which proved
you wrong.

It was one post to this group, which doesn't realy count as spamming,
just a single OT messages posted in the wrong newsgroup (it should be in
a marketplace ng).
Spamming would be the same (or similar) advert message being posted
multiple times here.

Yes it is. But this whole thing about jummping all over somebody for what
they post or say is really getting old and sickening. The word "Troll" is
used from time to time. I think a troll is one who hangs around reading
every post waiting for someone to slip up so they can get out there daggers.

You can say it's just words and nobody gets hurt and it just what goes on in
news groups. But all violence ussualy starts out with just words and after
a day like yesterday, Well, it puts thing right into contex.

We live in a free country where your right to speek you mind is very high on
the list. And so is the right to earn a buck. Both come with a
resposibility.

News groups are a free and open forum, If you are going to be brought to
anger every time someone sais, "Hey, I got something for sale"
Then I fear you will be angry most of the time...

Relax, use the delete key....

Spam can be just one post and is a violation of the eBay ToS.
Flooding is multiple Off Topic/spam posts.

So who died and made you the police of usenet?
If you don't want to read a particular post, don't do it.
Don't whine about ToS and spam, just don't read it.

I would also consider that the original post was pointing us to a
photography realted item, it was _not_ completely off topic.

If this realy is such a huge problem for you, perhaps you should go back
under your bridge.

While I agree about the spamming, you appear to have taken up a personal
crusade against google. People have a right to use google if they choose to,
or to use a news reader if they choose.

I don't need to see someone jump on others, I don't need to see someone jump
on me, and I DO need to learn not to jump on others. I totally agree with
the poster who said folks are scared spitless to come here. I feel it.

I want a friendly place to discuss photography. I make mistakes, I'm doomed
to make mistakes just like everyone else I chewed out someone for being
abusive to me and wasted everyone's time for example.

I guess it's proof, that those Namely me, who are having dealings with the
stupid one will fare badly ie: Add to their stupidity.

I don't want to be stupid anymore, I want to learn about photography, and
reading put-downs about google, won't teach me anything but feartography.

Perhaps your intentions are well meaning, in your attempt to try to nip
something in the bud before it gets out of hand, but people really do
already know that many spammers are just howling in the wind in an empty
dessert, an by responding, you only increase the visbility of their original
spam as I just realized I am.

No offense intended, just an attempt to save you some hassle for I've found
that those trying to do as you are, just end up being targets. Center stage
is where the tomatos land, Moderators end up feeling like they have a
thankless job. I just noticed I'm rambling. I'm going to stop this message.
Cheers.
