Hi, I have a cheap Canon IP3000 (for now) and I was wondering what is the
best paper to use for macro (bugs/flowers) prints?

I have tried photo glossy, which is very nice. Is matte good?

What do most use?

I am thinking of entering a local photography contest, but unsure what paper
to use for my prints.

Thanks in advance!

I generally like lustre (semi-matt colour) for people and glossy for
anything else, but that's me.

I prefer glossy for macro shots.

Glossy finish papers tend to emphasize contrast and vibrant colors,
perhaps at the expense of some tonality. Matte papers (with color
prints) look a touch muted, and less contrasty, but work well with
subtly toned images. Matte paper is also particularly good with black
and white, and people have come to expect monochrome art shots to be
done on a matte paper. In the wetworks world, matte-finish fiber
papers hold up better to long-term display than glossy resin-coated.

I often print flower photos on watercolor paper. Very nice effect, especially when I put
the image through the watercolor filter in Paint Shop Pro.
