Some humans such as say George Bush will "say" they believe in the
same God as the Jewish people do, but the gung ho will murder and kill
left right and cetnre, so he obviously does not!
Jewish people will only eat certain foods, on the specific
instructions of their God.
Other religions such as Hindiusm cause much less fear. There they do
not have the same fear of their Gods, but they also seek to please
their Gods by following the Edict they have, of not causing suffering
to any other form of life. They make offering of gifts and vegetarian
food to their Gods and they express a great love of their Gods.
Other Gods such as Greek Gods, or Norse Gods or Egyptian Gods and
others have long since disappeared, leaving only two religions and two
sets of Gods. The Jewish religion and their God and the Hindu
religion and their Gods.

In my opinion a religion working with fear is nothing better than a
sect. For example, if you are a very religious catholic just because
you are afraid of going to hell, then it's definitely the wrong way.
You should call yourself a catholic, or muslim, or jew, or whatever,
because you think it is the right choice and it goes with your belief,
not because you're afraid of something.

The food laws were apparently initially sorta public health tribal
ordinances, which became metaphysical/religious
linked,as all things were I suppose
pork, not well-heated or whatever ------>trichnosis
shale-fish/shell-fish/without gills/whatever -----> apparently not
considered healthy eaters themselves, apparently
thought source of disease, it happpens occasionally that people do
have bad reactions to die-licious shrimp, sushi and lobster and crab
meat
mixing of meat and milk products is also a no-no, as per ancient
health standards apparently
marvin harris is an anthropologist whose field work in inja is
considered highly by anthropogists

so let's try to respect religion and superstition, and understand why
it is/was everything
looking at the world that has come so far...we are really not that far
removed from the past, and some
including most/many are still apparently emotionally if not
intellectually
dependent on so called irrationalities, rituals, beliefs, customs
and if ya drive on shabbos in strict orthodox neighborhood, uh....a
zealot may duly rock you
