Hey I was wondering if there was a list out there of people who have studied
philosophy, and is now well known to the general public. For example Steve
Martin studied philosophy, and Bill Clinton studied philosophy, and they are
both now public figures. If there isn't such a list, but you know of
individuals who studied philosophy and are now well known, it would be
helpful if you relay them to me.
you can just reply to the newsgroup. Thanks!

we're cryin and we're hurtin' and we're not sure why... it's almost ..it's
almost as if if you could only crack the code then you'd finally understand what
this all means but if you could...do you think you would trade in all the pain
and suffering?

i hate philosophy courses. what pisses me off more, though, is how even supposed
"continental" professors talk in if P then Q. i was so looking forward to this
Nietzsche and Scheler seminar a few semester back, and i had to drop because the
Prof wouldn't entertain a "negative" reading of N. i love philosophy professors!

yes well, to paraphrase Nietzsche, the greatest "sin" against life was that against
laughter.

I don't know as I trust "famous" people who studied philosophy... Woodrow

Wilson and lenin both studied philosophy, look at the mess they made... Hitler
kept a copy of Schopenhauer's World as Will and Idea by his bedside all of his
adult life - did that help? Sidartur in a post here noted Pat buchanan had
studied philosophy, well there you go.
It was in a text
I can't recall the title to
that Aristotle said that the study of philosophy will not make one wise.
Only to-philosophize - to wonder, to dream, to hope, to "figure out", to
enmesh with the universe and yet remain contemplative of it, only the joy of
asking unaskable questions leads .. well, along the path where it will go
(avoid philosophy courses in school, most are taught by yokels with a comment
on "if P then Q" published in some stupid logic journal...) Real study, real

reading real think, is letting one'sself go along the path of thought(s)...no
matter where they lead...
(by the way, I'm glad Matisse still has her sense of humor, answering a post
like this... I'm still working on Lyotard again,... I've been so busy my hours
