Since most people ignore any philosophical posts the couple of oddball
Australians make they resort to gloating about any distress they can
dig up about the United States in order to bait American posters into
giving them attention.

Way to go BoFL aka Brian Fletcher and Seak aka Seanki!

I think I mention US about 1 in 200 posts, occasionally in a serious
manner, but mostly for gentle jibing

My recent google figures showed over 1200 clicks on my offerings in a
seven day period.
Ironically, one of my main threads is a variation on identifying
onesself with the group consciousness, andn how to identify disruptive
and avoidable consequences.

You start out by saying "most people". Perhaps this is why you are
attracted to such threads.

Maybe the three of you could start your own newsgroup:
alt.philosophy.narcissists

It takes three to tango, and you deserve each other.

Meaning most do not respond which may not be the same as ignoring. Even
if so, so what?

To honor your intention here:

Is there a common element in all philosophical posts?

So with the lack of response they use "politics" and nationialism to
bait posters into responding for attention at any cost.

I think people would typically like some sort of empathy in response
to their assertions.

I think we can see a pattern with Brian and Sean in which their
"philosophical" points of view have been widely disputed with their
feelings hurt.

So they attempt some type of revenge in gloating about any objective
failing they imagine their detractors suffer from by baiting them
about how much better their situation is in Australia for example.
With one of them at a time when they've openly discussed the fact that
they are verging on economic bankruptcy.

Any type of healthy personal philosophy they wish to present is
obviously completely undermined by the actual behavior they exhibit on
Usenet.
