why is it everyone thinks they have the complete answer to everything?
Question: When hundreds of the greatest minds in the history of humanity
have failed, why are you trying?
I find myself disagreeing with two opposite view points. How often does
that happen?
I shall first deal with the latter. If you are goal oriented, then you are
reaching for an impossible goal. That much is pretty certain. However, it
is the journey that is important. Being an idealist isn't a problem as long
as you have a grain of realism in you. If you know that the ideals can
never be reached, then why try? It is because the attempt towards the ideal
is important. Answers can be found, but sometimes they come in forms that
are most unexpected. I can make the same claims, but they won't be
satisfying to some. I can answer a huge number of questions by changing
people's perspective on a few things.
As for the original post... Destiny by definition is pre-ordained. It is
determined at birth. One cannot choose destiny. Secondly, TRUTH must be
given a context. I can offer the truth, and you don't have to receive junk
mail for the rest of your life. All white cats are white! There is the
truth for you! The truth about what are you guaranteeing? Thirdly wisdom
is an unattainable ideal. To be truly wise, you cannot accept anything at
face value. Thus, even if the truth is staring you in the face, the wise
will question it. Thus, those that are truly wise, will ignore your post.

Yes, a very fair point. I didn't phrase my original post very well; what I
was trying to say is, 'are you really that arrogant that you think you have
the complete answer, when ayer, hume, locke, aristotle, plato, sophocles,
sartre, nietzche, russel, honderich, kant (continue unto inifity) have
failed?'
But who are you to be so arrogant that you can presuppose that this poor
original poster
is "the weakest link" in philosophy? Einstein was a patent clerk. Trotsky
a rural peasant.
The list goes on and on.
I too am a philospher wanna be and have subjected myself to countless
treatening and annoying
emails about my views as expressed at www.rainbowpediatrics.net but I still
am "journeying" to
change the world, dispite lacking "the right stuff".
regardless, I too wonder why he who has the ultimate answer to truth,
enlightenment and everything
would not simply post it rather than requiring others to send their email
address...
