Nietzsche's philosophy bears similarities with ancient Gnostic teaching. Nietzsche argues that the Christian God is a usurper, holding people in serfdom by the propagation of an illusion. Instead, people ought to heed the true god: the Übermensch. It leads to the emancipation of the human spirit. Whereas authentic Gnosticism was otherworldly, Nietzsche made a this-worldly interpretation. This is the main difference. Human emancipation is realized already in this world.
Nietzsche's philosophy has caused enormous damage in the modern world. Not only was Nazism founded upon the Nietzschean ideology of power--today's Feminism, Postmodernism and Cultural Marxism center around the theme of "invisible patriarchal structures" whose main function is to keep people in bondage. In order to achieve liberation, people must "see through" these oppressive structures, and bring to light this "evil patriarchal god."
So, our age is dominated by a vulgar this-worldly form of Gnosticism, partly derived from Nietzschean philosophy. Nietzsche coined the term 'perspectivism,' which means that all perspectives are equally valid. The only thing that matters is for a theory to achieve domination, as it may then subdue all the other perspectives. Accordingly, the victor becomes the new hegemonic "truth." Today, such thinking dominates the educational establishment. As a consequence, fatuous theories have achieved domination in academia, such as gender studies, which repudiates the biological notion of sexual gender.
