I can recall the pain I felt when I was hung upside down and spanked by the
doctor on the day I was born... funny thing is that I don't typically think
of myself as having a good memory... So you see, existentialism is good for
something... it allows me to track down the source of a characteristic pain.

If that is your most painful recollection, then lucky you.
You must have led a very easy life if that is the worst you
have to complain about, and is one that all humans have to
endure.
This lack of suffering in your life would no doubt account
for your unsympathetic, selfish and inhumane attitude toward
others.

People who do not suffer normally are this way.
Mark Earnest is the same, a typical spoilt selfish person
with no compassion or humanity toward others, and he also
has led an easy life.

It is a fact that the more you suffer, the nicer a person
you become.
Suffering is a blessing from God for this purpose and this
cause.

Suffering CAUSES compassion and humanity.
Suffering CAUSES sympathy and empathy and understanding.

Without suffering, you are merely a selfish animal.
WITH suffering you are a human being.

Lack of suffering? That is an extremely painful memory... How do you say
that I do not suffer when the world responds to my pain with contemptuous
laughter? The people who don't suffer from pain are those who inflict pain
on themselves and then expect pity.
