You are such a fucking hypocrite. You act like you are above even
using the word shit, by censoring yourself, feigning some level of
sophistication or gentility, but you have no problems verbally abusing
me outright, and calling my posts unbelievably stupid.
You are completely full of shit.
Seriously, I think you are a total fucking bitch.
You're nobody.
You're nothing.
I don't even know why I am wasting my time with you.
I guess that makes me the moron.
THAT is what makes me unbelievably stupid, not my posts.
I'm only just getting started. Another post on the way.
Oh yeah.
I love it.
Really, you just made my day.
Seriously, where do you get off talking about other people like they
aren't even there, like you are above them, what's your problem
anyway?
Are you fat and ugly and can't get laid?
Are you too old to go outside and play?
I think you are one of the snottiest and most obnoxious people in this
room.
You probably get off on that.
HAND.
Who is Kate Bush. Is she one of Pres. George Bush's daughters.

I know, but I couldn't help giving a public dismissal of his 'theory'
Here she is performing Wuthering Heights, my favorite of her songs,
based on the Emily Bronte
book of the same name.

and here she is accepting a Q award, along with some other pop star:
Wasn't she Ray Davis's protégée -- recall something of him picking up
on her upon a recommendation while she was studying music, eliciting
the thought and sponsorship for an advance pass into mainstream. Had
to have been her -- strange to think that'd be Anne Lennox, only other

No Shat, No Show.
I don't know much about Kate Bush, other than it's always nice to see
her. I have ONE of her albums, from the 90s. In this video you
provided the link to, I had to take a more careful look at her, because
she looked and sounded so much like Sarah Brightman -- whom I've loved
for about eight years now -- I wondered if you had made a mistake. But
you were right, it's Kate Bush. So I watched the other videos on that
page. I then remembered seeing in the 80s when USA's NIGHT FLIGHT was a
cool thing on the weekends, a Kate Bush concert, in which she performed
"Wuthering Heights." It wasn't as physical as in the live version on
this page, but it was nonetheless memorable. God, she's beautiful.
But I doubt she has to resort to the tactic you accusing her of. She
might have been messing with you, but she's being ironic, not
manipulative.

Hi ya'll,
Generally, majorly, corporally & privately, i am loathe to participate
in crossPosted content.
This one has piqued my innerest; i apologise to those whose form
excludes such content.
First i wondered why "Kate" Bush intrigued me. I've followed some of
the U2B links and learned who she is. She's alright, but not marketed
to me; like Tori Amos & the woman who did "Jagged Little Pill", her
demographic likely reaches my daughters.
So then i thought Ah-cha, must be i'm thinking of "Kate Moss".
Drilling down, i found that not to be the case.
Turns out the Kate i'm thinking of is "Kate Wolf". Not to everyOne's
taste, i'm sure.
I wasn't aware of her during her life (ended in 1986); she seems to
have been a Northern California Folkie. I've since come to know &
appreciate her work postMortemly.

Nicely put (both parts)

you've got that backwards.
Not really. No. Depends on which one I saw first. They're
contemporaries.
hardly. depends on who's the original. it's Kate.
Cool, it worked. :)

Who's the original what? They're around the same age, and their styles
are more than a little different. They are who they are. That they
physically resemble one another a bit isn't meaningful. Brightman is
definitely more famous. When I saw Kate first back in the 80s (in that
live concert thing), but I didn't rush out and buy her albums. It was
quirky and interesting, but not necessarily compelling. When I saw the
Eden concert with Brightman around 2001, I went out and bought her album
and concert DVD. If you're suggesting Brightman stole something from
Kate, well, that would just be plain stupid.
>Who's the original what? They're around the same age, and their styles

They're nothing like artistically. Bush is a sophisticated songwriter
with a compellingly quirky vision, an idiosyncratic vocal style, & a
studio approach to track-building & orchestrating that rivals the
greatest pop-record producers of the past, & Brightman is a
blanded-out brunette musher whose second wind (her first wind having
been the London musical stage) owes almost everything to the late '80s
& early '90s craze for New Age boutique mysticism & PBS pledge drives.
>Brightman is definitely more famous.
Perhaps in the United States, but only by a margin (neither of them is
typically at the top of the charts in the U.S.). In England, Bush has
had the fame that Madonna has had here.
>If you're suggesting Brightman stole something from
>Kate, well, that would just be plain stupid.
I can't imagine what Brightman might have "stolen" from Bush. If she
stole something, she must have packed it away somewhere.

You surely put a lot into that OPINION. And delivered with enough
aplomb that a person not more tuned to her would think it had gravitas.
It's the last phrase that robbed it of any authority. Her popularity
worldwide would have nothing to do with either of those things. You do,
however, get extra points for "New Age boutique mysticism." It sounded
so . . . PRECISE.
It wouldn't take me long
To tell you how to find it
To tell you where we'll meet
This little girl inside me
Is retreating to her favourite place
Go into the garden
Go under the ivy
Under the leaves
Away from the party
Go right to the rose
Go right to the white rose
(For me)
I sit here in the thunder
The green on the grey
I feel it all around me
And it's not easy for me
To give away a secret
It's not safe
But go into the garden
Go under the ivy
Under the leaves
Away from the party
Go right to the rose
Go right to the white rose
(For me)
Go into the garden
Go under the ivy
Go under the leaves with me
Go right to the rose
Go right to the white rose
I'll be waiting for you
It wouldn't take me long
To tell you how to find it
Great song, but you need to hear her sing it, rather than just read
the lyrics. Great to see you've changed your mind about Kate

Thomas Hewett Edward.
And that's a show that's not been seen since it first aired. You know,
we've got that damned TVland, which shows the same shows that have been
in syndicaition for literally thirty-five years. Why not plumb those
vaults and pull out jewels like that. I can remember only a couple of
scenes from that show, but I watched it every week. It seemed like it
might have been very dramatic, not campy at all.
> Are you assuming I'm NOT willing?
Based on your above reaction? Looks like it's a possibility. I
thought the critique of Sarah Brightman was spot on. That's pretty
much how she's viewed in England anyway. Perhaps Kate's not well
known in the US but I'd be very surprised if that were true. Your
response didn't exactly ooze tolerance, did it?
I bought ONE Kate Bush album in the 90s, THE SENSUAL WORLD. I wasn't
that impressed. I liked it, even. But I didn't buy any more. When
Oberman went into that whole little billet-doux about how she's this
great composer and so on, I was wondering who the hell he was talking
about. Because she can sing so well, I'm going to make up a new
category for her, just like David did for Sarah. Let's call it
"progressive pop." I've really liked some of the stuff I'd heard that
wasn't on that that particular album, and what makes her most attractive
is her performances. But claiming that Bush is some magnificent
songwriter, composer, and arranger while Brightman is this haggard old
thing barely hanging on to a reputation is just plain ridiculous. If
you insist that's the case, I suggest you listen to THE SENSUAL WORLD
for yourself. She has a song on it about relating to your computer.
Yeah, that was fucking groundbreaking. I'm not saying it's bad. I'm
saying it ain't the modern equivalent to Beethoven, and Brightman
compares favorably with her.
And I don't believe she's viewed like as you described in England. You
just don't like her. Myself, I'm a big fan, have many of her albums,
four of her DVD concerts. I had never even heard of her until I saw her
on PBS. It was the EDEN concert. Fantastic. She's very theatrical,
which makes sense because her earlier career really is so closely
entwined with theater.
I added that last point so you wouldn't chirp up that she stole that
from Kate Bush.
sure. neither did Tori Amos.
> And I don't believe she's viewed like as you described in England. You
> just don't like her
Honestly, she is. I have absolutely no feelings about her whatsoever,
but that's the general view. If you asked anyone I know in the UK -
with the possible exception of my mother in law - if they thought SB
was a credible artist, they'd laugh. She has about as much
credibility as the West End musicals she used to be in (Cats, etc)
> Myself, I'm a big fan
Obviously. She presumably has some credibility in the US as a serious
artist. Not here though, sorry. Did you see the awards video I
posted in this thread where John Lydon told Kate Bush he loved her
music? How much more evidence do you need?!
More than that. How many times have you seen someone else mentioning
her that way? You see someone at an award show one time mentioning her,
and suddenly there's a consensus? There's more unctuous ass-kissing at
awards shows than just about anywhere.

Yeah, I have no feeling for what it would have been like. Only saw it
first run like you did.
I would like to apologize to Robin and everyone else who had to read
all that crap.
I lost my temper with Robin.
I really lost it.
Robin, you talk about me like I'm not even there, and you do nothing
but put me down, and you sincerely hurt my feelings.
Otherwise, I have no quips with you.
Again, I apologize to everyone for completely losing my temper.
Sorry, that was an important post, I need to make a correction, I
should have said, you do nothing *to me* but put me down.
I wish we could just shake hands and be friends.
Oh well.
I don't get this. Why NOT plumb those vaults, pull out these short-run
gems, and treat us once again to them. I'm sure this was a very serious
series. The one scene I distinctly remember was about a guy in a
wheelchair. He had very thick glasses, and he was telling Cat that "No,
I don't see clearly. I have cataracts." It seems like this guy was
holding a small group hostage. In my older years, I'm curious about
this fragment of history, how this fits in to anything. Damn it, clear
those vaults.
