Where to buy current Japanese postage in USA/on line?

Can you please suggest where in the USA or on-line may I buy _current_
Japanese postage stamps?

(Please excuse me if I had posted to a wrong group. Any pointers to correct
groups would be much welcomed!)

I have an elderly friend (distant relative) in Japan who does not use a
computer (hence no email). She lives in a somewhat smaller town in
Hokkaido. In winter it is tough for her to go out and get postage stamps, I
imagine. I wanted to send to her self-addressed, stamped envelopes when I
write to her. Envelopes are easy, stamps so far seem impossible! So, can
you please suggest where in the USA may I buy _current_ Japanese postage
stamps?

Caveman,

You should be able to buy in your local post office UPU (Universal Postal
Union) reply paid coupons. These are exchangeable anywhere in the world for
first class/airmail postage. Enclose the coupon in the letter to your
relative but make sure he/she knows how to use it. I am a mail sorter for
the Royal Mail and I see on a daily basis how these coupons get misused.
People think they should staple or glue the coupon on to the envelope.
That's not the way it works. They should take the letter and the coupon to
their nearest post office and airmail postage will be paid provided the item
is within size and weight limits.

Thanks, but please note the contents of my posting: the whole idea is for
her to _not_ have to _go_out_ to the post office to get the stamps.

Caveman, Davidson makes a valid point. Perhaps she / you can pay for them
in a check and they will mail them to her. No matter what, we always have
options. If she can even get a used desk / laptop and dialup access she can
have internet options as well.

Look at all the options and decide what will best suit her.
