A Conway area woman called Horry County police in March to report her
10-year-old had been sexually assaulted by a 33-year-old man, according
to an incident report.
The man, Carlos Roberto Lopez, from Honduras was booked at J. Reuben
Long Detention Center just after 1 a.m. Monday, records show. He was
charged with first degree criminal sexual conduct charges with a minor
under age 11, police said.
According to the incident report, the child told her mother and
grandmother that Lopez touched her “where a grown up does not touch 10
year old girls,” between January and Christmas in 2011. The girl told
police it happened between 10 and 20 times, and the suspect would
attempt to touch her when her mother left the house.
The report said Lopez had once taken her pants off, but she ran and
locked herself in a different room.
When the family reported the crime, the mother said the suspect, who is
her ex-boyfriend, had moved to the Socastee area, but she did not have
an address.
