Is this a rattle snake found in a rural So(uthern) CA(lifornia) backyard?

The picture is really bad quality but from what I can gather the makeup
of the face actually makes me think that is some sort of legless lizard
more than any type of snake.

A better picture will yield a more accurate result over at reddit.com/r/snakes
