Do all rabbits love carrots?

I have often heard that all rabbits always like to eat carrots.
It's true that when any rabbit becomes hungry enough, one will eat nearly
anything, including carrots, but that's not proof that all rabbits love them.

Does anyone know of rabbits who normally prefer not to eat carrots?

As I recall, at the end of the classic tale, 'The Runaway Bunny', by
Margaret Wise Brown, the mother rabbit tells her baby: 'Have a carrot.' :-)

Mine are obsessed with them.

I'd be interested in hearing about any rabbits that won't drop
everything (except maybe a piece of banana) to eat a carrot.

Carrots are fine in limited quantities, or like Judy said, bunnies can get
poopy butt from the sugar. My boy - I still always want to say 'boys' - get
one baby carrot at night. Anymore, and it is poopy butt city.
Bunnies love anything sweet.

Thunerball doesn't, but then she is the strangest of buns! She has a
cabbage leaf every morning and every night, a bowl of pellets in the
morning which last through the day. Then we have the naughty treats
that mom really shouldnt give so much but if she's good! A berry at
bed time for being good and getting into bed without being chased for
half an hour! And lastly a wheatie stick (tiny 5cm long) hidden in bed
to find in the night!

She adores brocolli but we tend to get weird wees if we have too much.
She quite likes cauliflower. Im sure she'd love a bit of lettuce but
we never have that(no good, too much water) but no matter how often we
try carrot its always a no no. Whether she's onto me and she knows
i'll get her something better, i don't know!

Both Nibbles and Cuddles love carrots. Carrots aren't necessarily
their *favorite* vegetable (their favorites are proably cilantro
and Italian parsley), but they never turn their noses up at them...
even if they're a couple days old. (Lettuce, dandelions, and
other greens however, must be absolutely frensh... if they've been
in the fridge for more than a day or two, our bunnies won't even
look at them.)

Well... that's not 100% true. They never turn up their noses at
the orange *roots* of carrots. They'll only eat the green carrot
tops the very first day we bring the carrots home. After that,
they just toss them out of their food dish and ignore them. Both
of them do this, believe it or not.

Also, I should perhaps mention that Nibbles wasn't always a
carrot fan. When he was a young bunny and we were first
introducing him to vegetables, he would only eat the green tops
of carrots and scorned the orange roots. This remained the
case until we started shredding the carrots for him into thin
strips. Then he started eating them, and eventually he graduated
to eating whole carrots

Finally, I wanted to bring up the subject of carrot juice. Normally,
of course, we just give the bunnies fresh veggies so that they get
fibre, etc. However, once we thought we'd give them a little treat
by bringing home some freshly squeezed carrot juice from a local
juice joint, and putting it in a small dish for them to drink. Nibbles
*loved* it and lapped it right up. (It also turned the fur around his
lips bright orange for a few hours!) Cuddles, however, seemed quite
afraid of it. At first he ignored it, then he went over and sniffed
cautiously, and then stayed on the other side of the cage from it!
I think he just didn't understand the concept. Poor Cuddles!

Toofer and Jessie are very picky about their carrots. I buy the peeled baby
carrots. Before I pick out a 2-lb package, I rub some of the carrots (still
wrapped, of course) between my fingers to make sure they aren't slimy. Even
a slight touch of slippery guarantees that my guys won't touch the carrots.

Toof and Jess get one baby carrot a night. Their tastes for them varies.
Sometimes they eat them second; sometimes they get shoved to next to last.
Their piece of bell pepper always comes in last place. (IOW, they are never
the favorite things, but never the worst.)

my inky is just crazy about carrots. he always eats the green tops first,
though, then the orange part. carrots rate above kale and spinach, but
below cilantro and parsley. broccoli and green peppers weigh in at the
bottom of his list. as an aside...he actually went for parsley over a
raisin once. thought that was funny.

They only go after the carrots after those are gone.

Interesting. I guess the adage "de gustibus non est disputandum"
is true for rabbits as well.

Tuffy and Guinea just went for their yearly check-up ,I thought they
both were too fat but the vet aid they were just right. Then she
questoned me about their diets and told me to NEVER give any
carrots, oats, crasins,or any other high sugar or carb foods for
treats.Man was Tuffy pissed !!! Good thing for her he was already back
in his carrier.....he looked like he wanted to bite her toungue off. I
can't say I will never give any of these things (I certiantly don't want
Tuffy mad at me ! ) but we will be greatly cutting down.....maybe 1
treat once a week. Janice

Pinky likes the tops best. Hubble likes the bottoms, so we have a
Jack-Sprat-and-wife situation here.

Both of them would rather have fruit. In the greens department, they
prefer parsley.
