I have an English Angora Doe, and I am interested in getting a pet
Chinchilla (not a Chinchilla rabbit).

Does anyone know how these two animals interact? I know little about
Chinchillas...

A couple of years ago I lived with two other women. I had a young mini
lop, one friend had a young dwarf, and our other friend had an older dwarf
and a chinchilla. All four animals had separate cages in the same room. I
don't know a lot about chinchillas, but in that situation, it seemed to
work out fine. The two younger bunnies were pretty interested in Bogey
(the chinch), but Bogey just ignored them. Bogey and his "brother", the
older dwarf, tolerated each other, but the chinch was not very
affectionate with any of them. The rabbits and the chinchilla were allowed
out together, and the chinchilla pretty much went his own way, scooting
around the floor and jumping onto things. I've heard that chinchillas can
become friendly and cuddly, but this little guy had been abused by his
breeder before my friend found him, so he was always a little wary of
people. I'm not sure how buns and chinchilla interact in general
situations, but it seemed fine in our home. Good luck!

From what I have heard, Roger, if you are going to mix rabbits and
chinchillas, you will have a better chance of success if the rabbit is female.
Male rabbits see all small furry creatures as potential sex partners and can
worry a chinchilla into a nervous breakdown.

We had great success keeping a female dwarf and a male guinea pig in the same
cage. They grew very attached to one another, so much so that when the female
dwarf died of intestinal blockage coupled with a necrotic pregnancy, the
guinea pig quite literally pined away.

I suggest giving your chinchilla more objects of affection than just the
rabbit. Due to my allergies to guinea pigs, I didn't handle Jose enough and
he missed being cuddled by his Mama Rabbit.
