My husband and I allow our bunnies to run around the entire apartment. They
are never in a cage (even at night). To our amazement, they usually stay at
the same spot all the time! But are they getting enough sleep? They stay
by the tv, next to the window. Both my husband and I work from home and our
computers are near their "spot". Is there a possibility that we keep them
up?
Please do respond to this!
It is entirely possible that your buns sleep without you even being aware of
it, as quite a few buns sleep with their eyes open.
I was wondering if I kept my boys up all the time too, particularly when I
am at home, but I figured that they got used to me stomping around the
house. :) I am sure you have nothing to worry about. Those little guys
may be light sleepers normally, but they can be pretty heavy ones too. The
number of times I have scared Boggle who appeared to be awake but had -no-
clue that I was there. <grin>
Take care

When they're still, they may be "sleeping." Rabbits don't get much "shut-eye"
type sleep, but instead, naturally sleep for short periods with their eyes
open.
Making noises or moving when they're in this state may wake them up, at least
enough for them to realize that you're the cause, then go back to sleep.

Ours sleep during the middle of the day, and are totally
oblivious to anything we do to them during their siesta. I
discovered that they sleep with their eyes half open, so it
looks like they are awake. The only way I can tell the
difference between an awake bun and a sleeping bun is when I
pet one and he (or she) doesn't purr. I don't know exactly
how many hours a rabbit should sleep, or even an average,
but they do seem to get enough, even with my husband doing
his computer thing at night and me up all day. I'd wager
they sneak their Zs in when you aren't looking (sorry, bad
pun).

She'll flop over on her side, half on her back, in her box, with
her head hanging over the edge of the box... if her tongue was
sticking out that would be the last straw of me thinking she had
died in her box. But it's just the way she seems to sleep
lately... I suppose it's a good thing, because it proves she's
comfortable enough with me to just flop out like that and be
totally unconcerned with the world...
I've never seen spunky or sarah actually sleep. Sarah spends a
lot of time in her box, and spunky spends a lot of time with his
feet flopped out behind him, but the only time I've even come
close to seeing spunky sleep was one time where he tranced out in
my arms for about an hour.
