The 4 yr was pulling on the bunnies tail and pulled it off. Do these grow back?

Methinks I oughta get out my nice surf rod, tie on a nice big Rapala
lure and go fishing for some trolls. Seems like it's a good day for 'em.

No they do not grow back, but your rabbit should be just fine, if the bleeding has
stopped.

If the bone from the tail is gone, the tail is gone. Mammals don't regrow
bones that have been lost. If it were just some fur, it may grow back, but
not the bone. I can't see that there would be a problem with the animal.
Many animals do fine without tails.

Somehow, if something like this really happened, I'd think that the owner would
be frantically calling the vet....not signing online to post a question.

Just my opinion.

Consider this, though. Lots of people have posted here when they
_should_ have been frantically calling a vet.

Nothing new here........let's hope he did call the vet.

Christ! For a minute (just a minute mind you) I thought this really was
Martha.

Maybe this whole thread is an elaborate ploy to troll the bejesus out of
this group. Martha, anyway.

Next thing will be be Martha posting claiming it wasn't her posting and
what a miscreant MeRabbits is. She'll threaten to have Me's, JPeters',
and Goom's accounts yanked for falsifying a post or something.

This one oughtta be good.

Okay everyone, on the count of three we're going to killfile this thread.

maybe some people are sane enough to be able to handle a situation
without needing to call the vet every time the rabbit sneezes. do you
run to the doctor every time you cut yourself or get a scratch? these
are animals. they are much better adapted to handling pain than
humans are. if not, they wouldn't be able to chew their own legs off

Like she shouldn't???? If I came on here, and changed my headers and made it
look like like yours, and wrote something as insane and ludicrous as that, I'd
think you would have to at least defend yourself. Or at least state it wasn't
yours. Something. Some people will know better, others won't. And hey, waz
up with classifying me and Merabbits in one big ass lump? I suggest you look
up his postings, look up mine. No comparison. (Not that you're even reading
this). And Goom and I are on opposite ends of the spectrum. So go lump me with
someone else. As for falsifying posts, I don't go there, never have, never
will. Against anyone. Period.

Personally? I think an account should be YANKED immediately for sending out
ficticious posts, under someone else's name. That's going too far.

No, it's going to be the same old, same old. Unfortunnately, now this troll
has learned a new game. Flaming must have been getting boring. Everyone was
doing what they were asked to do. ignoring Me and Jenny, or responding with
"cute" rabbit stories. Nothing is more frustrating to a troller than being
ingored. Kinda sad, when you life is so F**ked up, that this is the only way
you can entertain yourself. Pretty sad.

Okay - one, two, three, THIS IS IN THE FILL FILE. Broke the rule by
responding.

It should, given a couple of months. However, you should watch out for the
tail itself, because unless you soak it in alcohol or something similar it
might grow a new bunny. Of course, if you *wanted* another bunny, then that's
fine. Just keep the tail moist and try and give it some nutrients, like some
yeast powder or blue-green algae (heat-killed).

Good luck with your bunny!

Nah, the medium needs to be a bit more complex than that. I've had the
best luck using a modified TC medium... I up the serum levels to 15% (and
make sure it's rabbit serum, the porcine or horse stuff doesn't work....
although that critter I grew from the horse serum is sweet... the hopping
makes it a pain to ride). I also add casamino acids... I know that's
usually used for bacteria, but I figure the bacteria in the gut need that
while the bunny is growing. Some growth factors (we have all *sorts* of
those proteins and mRNAs in our lab...) are useful, and thankfully things
like sonic and the FGF's and the BMP's are close enough betwen species
that using the chick version did not make the bunny cluck or anything like
that. Once I get the final recipie down, I'll post it. And then start
doing the "designer" versions of rabbits... :)

If anyone's interested. You can go to view page source, and compare the
post w/one of her others .(Although there isn't any variation in form or
style between it and her legit posts) The other one was posted from a
library.air.news account, and lacks the "report abuse to abuse
@prodigy.net" line in the header. (In the View pg. source heading.) But,
if it was indeed placed from a library server, those are paid for by the
government in the US, at some level, and I wouldn't put it past MT to
harass them, since getting the law involved in petty bullshit seems to be
her favorite past time.

Which reminds me of some agricultural experiments I performed a few
years back while a researcher at SMU's experimental agronomy lab. We
found an armadillo's leg lying in the middle of Interstate 10 and tried
to clone it using hydroponic equipment and a rather radical nutrient
solution. It worked well and within weeks had a blossoming armadillo
vine that yielded no less than 7 armadillos.

Just as we were about to report our success to the National Journal of
Agricultural Engineering for publication, tragedy struck. It seems that
the armadillos did not care too much for being confined to their
botanical lifestyle and, we stongly suspect, worked in cahoots to gree
themselves from their hydropoic foundation. They then, judging from the
tracks, scampered in tandem across the front lawn, dragging their
botanical "umbilical" in tow in an apparent attempt to reach the freedom
of the forest nearby. Alas, the whole motley crew was mowed down by a
1976 Dodge Dart while attempting to scurry across US Highway 421.

We seriously considered an attempt at recreating the experiment with the
various armadillo parts we now had at our immediate disposal but
decided, instead, that there are some things that God did not intend for
us to do.

Perhaps the same thing can be done with the rabbit tail.

I'd just like to point something out here. First of all, I am a staunch
supporter of no-one. I have not taken argument sides here. If you could learn
to read, you would see that the only argument I have ever taken was on the side
of nettiquette. Moron. If you had taken the time to actually read the prior
post, I explicitly said I didn't agree with either side of the argument.
What I WOULD like is for you to take your petty disagreements offline, or
at least off newsgroup. Apparently you can find nothing else better to do with
your life than to troll a newsgroup, because if you actually wanted to have
an argument with Martha, you'd actually send it to her mailbox instead of to
the newsgroup. You must actually love Martha, because after all, imitation is
the sincerest form of flattery, and since you seem to have taken on her
username, I would presume you are attempting to flatter her. Environazi? I
think not. Besides, it's usually the people with very small minds who resort
to name calling as you have. Be content with your small mind. I do hope your

Kinda boring, I'd say. Have seen that before. You sure cannot accuse them
of being creative.

Forgot to mix some frog and or lizard DNA to spice the sauce.

I don't know why you are calling me names. I guess I should of made what I
was saying more clear. I was NOT saying it was OK to pull the bunny's tail
off, but now that the tail has been pulled off by accident that if the
bunny was not bleeding it should be OK.

In reading a lot of the posts here I sometimes wonder what has truth in it
and what is bull. Well this MAR...@prodigy.net, is way off coarse in her
reply about me.

I have a rabbit that when it was a baby the mother bit it's tail off. The
rabbit grew up and lives a good life with no problems with balance or
breeding or pooping. So this is what I meant when I said that the rabbit
would be find and I'm not David. Who is David Sparro?

That's funny. While creating charecters for a fantasy game/story, i thought of
the ultimate equestrian. A horse, amphibian cross, with an iguana's type
scale-y "mane" and african frog's type eyes (cat like and slited) and hind
legs. Always willing to cross a stream, and an amazing jumper. But I realized
it'd be difficult to keep her out of water obstacles at shows.

Actually, this is someone else forging headers. From eatel.net, it looks
like. Good to see you're as observant as you are urbane.

I beg to differ, after calling every vet within a 2 hour drive & being turned down(apparently not all vets see bunnies, & the ones that do, don't see enough to be comfortable with this?!)by them all, I'm now frantically searching the net for answers!

Hi

How awful.

With gerbils, the tail now skinless, shrinks and then drops off leaving a
stump.

Any vet would know how to treat this. Mainly to keep infection out and tidy
up. + antibiotics.

Cheers Richard

Yes they can... ny mother collected them and whenever she saw a dead rabbit in the road she WOULD stop and pull the tail off she usually had one for each grandkids when we came to visit her.I know weird habit they do not grow back but they'll be fine without it as long as its not bleeding

Why would you allow your child to do that in the first place??? Small children are rough with animals and should be monitored if they are handling them. You need to be reported to the ASPCA, and charged with animal cruelty.
