Your little guy will probably love a branch of willow or some other hardwood
to gnaw into sawdust. Woody sees his role in the family as providing us
with an ample supply of sawdust and woodshavings.
Good luck Waldo

First question....we bought our "Teil" Waldo about 8 months ago. Where we
are in West Aus. there are no references whatsoever to Teils...there
actually referred to as Weiro's ( hence Waldo ). For about a week I searched
the net for info on weiros with no luck ( the reason is now obvious). Does
anyone know where the term weiro originated from. Even at the bird
sanctuaries around Perth there refered to as weiros.
Secondly...are there any particular "toys" Tiels are fond of. When we're
home Waldos never in his cage. If we put him there on the weekends while
we're working in the garden he'll ring his bell continuously until we go and
spend some time with him. I'm worried that as we both work during the day
that he gets very bored by himself. We thought of a partner but were
concerned that he may stop talking. Any suggestions.
Lastly weird habits...are these normal?
If your eating he wants to be on your plate. Paticularly fond of nesting in
warm pasta. Nothing like the expresion on your dinner guests face when a
Teil lands in the middle of his pasta looks up and says "good boy"
Chew gum..don't chew it or run the risk of a Tiel in you mouth or a strand
of gum stretching from your mouth to a fleeing Teil. And yes he chews it and
doesn't swallow...next trick bubbles...
Feather recycling...trys to sew his moulted feathers into your scalp.
He also torments the cat put thats a whole other story...
Is this normal?????
