the only passionate state!
A story that came out of the archives of Jean Pattison has been placed
on The Grey
PoopOn Challenge Page at
http://members.tripod.com/Grey_PoopOn/PDDpoopon.htm
There are now 59 prizedonors and 142 prizes!
A donation was made in honor of Dave Kramer who just got out of the
hospital after a bout with Transverse Myelitis.
A donation came in that was accompanied by this note:
My donation is $1.00 for each year of the normal life expectancy of my 3
birds, and is dedicated to the memory of Kiwi the Quaker.
Another donation was made in memory of Dr. Pamela Slack, a vet in
Alexandria VA, who loved parrots & other animals.
A certified envelope came to me from Dr. Vanessa Rolfe who is still
doing her Groom Away PDD program. Inside were 17 checks. They ranged
from $5
to $61 if memory serves correctly.
I was asked to speak by Lynn Budz for the San Diego Breeders Assn. and
that went very nicely Friday July 9th. It was a great group of people,
unfortunately I couldn't stay for their whole program as I had one heck
of a headache due to computeritis. <g>
I don't know if I mentioned that I'll be going to New York to the LIPS
show in October where I'll present the check to Dr. Ritchie. When LIPS
found out that I was considering coming, they not only comped me a
table, but they will be letting me hold a raffle there as well with two
prizes. So we're going to combine the smaller prizes that have come in
with the major ones.
Karen Mullens will be donating one of the prizes...a day on
her 39 foot boat! They'll take the winner on a cruise for a day! The
winner can
wear their new T-shirt on the trip that is being donated by Bobbi
Brinker.
When they get home, they'll have some new reading material...a copy of
Natural Pet Care donated by Doreen and the Tweets. (For those who don't
know...the Tweets are footless African Greys)
The other major prize is being donated by Len Charette of C & L
Aviaries. You can find them on the web at
http://members.xoom.com/LensParrots
Len is donating an oil painting of a parrot. The painting will come
framed. This
painting without the frame may be valued anywhere from $268 to $350
depending on
which one we use. The winner of this prize will also go home with some
reading
material...For The Love of Greys by Bobbi Brinker and a book on parrots
by Arthur Freud donated by Doreen and the Tweets.
I received two checks at the beginning of the month that were
fantastic! One came from Bobbi Brinker. Remember her pledge of $5 per
book sold to individuals during the month of June? This was the check
for it. You
can order Bobbi's books from her at
http://www.parrottalk.com/bbbook.html
The other came from Jolley Feathers Bird Supplies at
http://jolleyfeathers.virtualave.net . It was for 10% of their sales for
the month of
June.
Considering that its a new company that just started up in May...the
check was really
a
nice one! Have a look at the website and help the company to grow!
Jolley Feathers has increased their prize donation too! They are now
donating 4 prizes to 4 different people. The 1st will get a bird toy.
The 2nd will get 3 lbs. of Crazy Corn...the Rainforest Rice Pudding. The
3rd person will receive a jar of Zupreem pellets (whichever size of
pellet and flavor needed) and the 4th winner will receive 3 lbs. of
Roudybush pellets (whichever size of pellet is needed).
I would be remiss if I didn't mention that Jolley Feathers is now on the
Ebay Auction Site. If you go to http://www.ebay.com you'll find their
items. As of this writing, item 127865720 is listed as Birdy Squiggles
for Birds, item 127862044 is listed as Kladders for Birds - Large and
item 127859376 is listed as Giant Krazy Cluster for Birds.
A website that I found interesting was http://www.bingohour.com I
downloaded the software to get into the site and thought that I'd take
some of my winnings from the bingo game there and donate them to TGPC.
If I go to a chat room, I use the handle Grey_PoopOn. People ask about
the handle and it always gives me a chance to talk to more bird lovers.
wasn't disappointed when I used it on the bingo chat. It got a lot of
us to talking...one person was a vet tech, another was someone who works
at a zoo in North Carolina. But I was very surprised one day when I went
in there to relax a bit...and someone with a handle I hadn't seen before
said "Valerie???"
I responded...and was told to double the amount of prizes that Beakers
is donating!!! It was Monica Sudds! :) So now Beakers will be
donating fourteen $15 gift certificates redeemable for anything of $15
value that Beakers has at their site or on the ebay site. Note that
there are more products (200 of them) that Beakers has on the ebay site.
Winners must pay any applicable tax and shipping due to Iowa laws which
Monica Sudds will inform them of.
Gay Noeth has gotten more contributions from Canada including one from
the Ottawa Parrot Club!
Sue Macer got another donation from the UK.
Liz Horvath does beautiful bird portraits (just take a look at the
Timneh she did at http://www.parrottalk.com/art2.html ). She is
donating $20 from each one to The Grey PoopOn Challenge. She was
thrilled to tell me she did her first one and I received the check for
it last week!!!
A new publication called The Bird Companion in the San Francisco area
contacted me and wanted to publish some information about The Grey
PoopOn Challenge. The more publicity the better!
We now have our first prize donation from Canada. Birdy Boredom Busters
is donating $50 worth of bird toys to one winner. They will pay
shipping if the winner is in Canada but winners from other locations
must pay shipping/customs. Birdy Boredom Busters doesn't have a web
page yet.
