We have just purchased a very used Prevue 128 bird cage. We would like to
know if it is possible to sand blast the wire and repaint it. if there is
anyone out there who can give us some input on this idea and the BIRD SAFE
PAINT please post a response!!

I would think that any paint that can be used in a babies room would be safe
for a parrot.

Painting on your own is always a scary thing, the reason being, that even
after
we can't smell the fumes of even "child safe" paints, their fumes can kill a
bird.

Here is the url of a nationwide company that does Powder coating, truly bird
safe paint, you can go here to find a local house to you, and contact them on
how much it would cost to have the cage done. http://www.costumcoaters.com

I don't know about you, but to me I'd rather pay to have the proper paint put
on,
than have to lament later over one of my fids later, just to save a couple
bucks.

Have you made your contribution to the PDD research fund this year, 2001?

We need your money to save all of our fids from this horrible disease.
This year's challenge hasn't started yet, but your responsibility to your
companion can still be addressed today.
Don't let complacency stand between your loving feathered companion and
a test/vaccine that could save their lives. Send your dollars today.

Hi Liz,
I was very interested in the link you provided on how to find a local
powdercoating company. When I tried to find one in Richmond, VA, no one wanted to
take on as small a job as a bird cage - cheez.

Unfortunately, the link won't go through - can you re-check it and see if it's
correct? I know it could be a problem from my end, but just checking all the
options.

Thanks for the info. Joyce & Oscar

Hi Joyce,

It does help if you don't have dislexia. http://www.customcoaters.com.

In Richmond, its : Richmond Powder Coating
2810 Rady Street
(804)329-9207

If they don't want to do a really small job, what you might do is contact your
bird club, see if there are other people who need to have cages touched up
and see if you can submit them as one large job.

Good luck,

Liz
