Well, we went to Petsmart just to price guinea pig cages - my son thought
he'd rather get a guinea pig because our little Buddie didn't live very long
and he thought a bigger animal might life longer and be more hardy.

There was a little Syrian alone in a big cage, trying to sleep. The store
workers kept bothering her because someone wanted to see her and she
screamed her little head off! She was terrified and jumped around, trying
to get away from the big meanies. I've never heard a ham make a noise
before - it was heartwrenching.

Adding to that, the little girl ham wasn't very ...... cute. She's kinda
pig shaped, with a long snout and big, big pink ears. Her fur is rather
scraggly, so her pink skin shows through it, especially the white band
around her middle.

So, we had to take her home.

She's settling in and does just the cutest things. She's totally different
than Buddie, but adorable in her own opinions and interests. Her first love
is the Wodent Wheel - she ran and ran on that until I thought she would
drop. And somehow, she knows how to make a nest already! And she figured
out right away what the potty was for. What a clever little girl! My son
named her 'Hamtaro' and my husband named her 'Scruffy'. I think 'Hamtaro'
is much nicer, so I'll be calling her that. It's so much fun having a
little one in the house again. In a way, I feel like we didn't mourn Buddie
long enough. But, I think we can both love and miss Buddie and give
Hamtaro love too!

Michelle
who now has one ham her in heart and one in the bedroom!

Our Zippy would have been a Hamtaro ( the TV series had just started here)
if she had been a he. Zippy was small and her fur was a bit thin and untidy
when we had her at first but she has lovely thick fur and she is rather big
now, so don't be surprised if Hamtaro grows as well. I'm sure she will make
lots of happy noises now running in her wheel!

Being the big animation geek that I am, I kind of wondered when we'd be getting
a Hamtaro in the group. i've considered introducing Jinx to the series, but
since we don't get cable, I would have to rent it.

If you've got broadband, I'm sure the episodes are available out there to

What a lucky little ham-girl to have been spotted by you and your son. I'm
sure she is cute in her own special way.

I think you are absolutely right. Giving Hamtaro a wonderful new home with
a loving family does not mean that you love or miss Buddie any less. Your
heart has room for many hams. I'm sure Buddie considers it an honor that
she trained you to take care of another ham.

Congratulations! Mever mind the estethics, if you took some pictures for
us, I'm sure we would all go "aawww" despite the snout... :)

"Hamtaro"? I guess it was long overdue. Still have no idea what that's all
about... :)
