So last night, my 3 1/2 year old rat, Typo passed away. She had
developed a tumor, and we had heard scheduled for surgery, but she
also had an infection and deteriorated before we could get her back to
the doctor. We named her Typo because I kept her at work and we had a
"Name the new tech support rat" contest, but I get posting the wrong
link to her pictures, so someone suggested we name her Typo and it
stuck. The one time I tried introducing her to the ferrets, they
immediately tried to eat her (don't try this at home, kiddies). She
managed to not only fend them off, but chased after one who ran and
hid.

She was a good friend.

No matter the size or species, a friend is a friend. I'm so sorry.

So sorry to hear about your rattie. My husband had a rat in college, & I
know how attached they were.

I've heard that ratties make really good, smart, loving pets. I'm so sorry
your little Typo is gone. Surely she knew how much she was loved and she
will wait for you at the Rainbow Bridge. ((((hugs))))

Thanks to everyone who replied. For anyone thinking of getting a
hamster or a gerbil, take my advice and get a rat. They are so much
friendlier towards people, have greatdispositions, and make great pets
for kids, too.
