We've had two Shar-Pei that make the strangest noises - for dogs!
Peco, a tall meat mouthed horse hair male, will stand at the window looking
out for cats.
If he sees one he makes the weirdest high-pitched mumbles, hard to
describe.
Lu-Lu also makes odd noises, which can be embarrassing. If she if left
alone, she will cry just like a human baby! We sometimes think someone is
going to report us to the police for child abuse. So her noise is a very
good way to get attention!!!
Re: the Water Bowl Mess.
We think it's great fun when Shar-Pei dribble after drinking water, but it
can happen at the worst times. Like every time I put my best suit on!
As for the walls getting messed up, use washable paints/papers.
Shar-Peis are worth minor inconveniences :-)

Yep, mine make weird noises too! One of my dogs will yelp and cry like
a small puppy when excited - especially when he sees another dog, it's
quite different than a bark. The other pup who makes noises grunts
like a small pig and can snore you from the room! The third pup sniffs
and sighs a bit but really makes no other sounds other than barking
occasionally. The breed are smart and full of personality!
