Inexperienced with dogs

Hi all

I always have been a cat owner but now looking to get a small dog, I think the Pomeranians look lovely but would like to know more about the breed and in g=fact more about being a dog owner.

Are they loving and cuddly as a breed? Are they loud and snappy? What do I need to know that is different from owning a cat?

I know they need walking, but how do I train them to 'go' outside etc? Is it acceptable to let a small dog use a cat flap to get into the garden if the garden is safe? ie: They can't get out of the garden

Hoping I don't sound too thick here but think it's best to know stuff before I commit.

Also, where do I go to find one?
