Ok, here's a weird question:
I had to call my local animal hospital about my older dog's eye infection.
The white of her eye was swollen, like a blister. The person at the
hospital asked me the breed of my dog (this dog is a mix- poodle terrier I
think). When I asked why they wanted to know the breed, they said small toy
dogs with bulging eyes, like poms, can have their eyes pop out, and even for
no reason! Anyone have that happen? I'm a new pomeranian owner, and that
just grosses me out!!! What do you do, pop it back in?

Hi Linda
I am a new pom owner also.
I have a toy pom and I have experienced no "popping out of the eyes". I suggest you go to another vet to get a second opinion. Let us know what the other vet says as if it happens to our poms we would want to know what to look for and what to do.

Hi John, I didn't bother to ask my regular vet. I would think that other
dogs like chihuahuas, would have more of a problem with that than poms. So
I am not going to worry about it.
How do you like being a pom owner so far? We love our pup: she has really
bonded with my daughter. She follows her around like a shadow!

Hi Linda

This is the first dog we have had in over 30 years. We got Foxy when she was 10 weeks old and weighed 1 lb 5oz. She is now 13 months old and weighs about 9 lbs.
She is very lovable and is the center of attention at our house of me, my wife, my daughter and my two teenage grandkids. So you can see she is getting a lot of love. She really raises cain when we leave the house and don't take her (which isn't often)! She loves to ride in the car.
Since I am retired and home most of the time, she has really bonded to me and like yours...follows me around everywhere.
She is an indoor dog, only going out for walks and potty. She even sleeps between me and my wife in our bed on a pillow!

The person who answered the phone did not know what he/she was talking
about. Ask the vet.

I just got back from an emergency call ti my vet with my pom with her eye.bulging out of her head. All I know is nothing had happened to her and we could not think of anything that could have made this happen. Vet said it had to be from trama to her head like a hard blow or someone picking her up by her neck skin. Since we did neither it must can just pop out without a reason. She's about 6yrs old and this is the first time this has ever.happened.
