“Since we are talking about "how to pick up women" books, it's not like
anyone has come up with a new idea in the past ten thousand years.”
Nah! Only since 1970. The original book is HOW TO PICKUP GIRLS by Eric
Weber. It has a great title but that’s it. It sold 2.5 million copies.
And was made into a really bad TV movie. The lure of that “easy” money
spawned all the Paul Rosses of the world as they attempt to cash in on
the basic idea.
The essence of the method, tactics and strategy is in the quote below,
taken from HOW TO DATE YOUNG WOMEN. That method is the essence of what
Paul Ross teaches. Check out his promotional writing to see if the words
TRUCKLOAD and CHICK are used.

Seen many men dating girls 18 to 24 years old? That's not because the men
don't want to, now is it? Could it be 2.5 million bought, and 10 million
of them read, the book quoted below? The poor saps think all they have to
do is walk up and spew one of the author's “100 Best Opening Lines.”
“The first, and really the only thing it takes to pick up girls, is to
talk to them. Basically that's it. You find a chick who turns you on, you
stroll right up to her, and you say, ‘That dimple on your left knee is
absolutely sensational!’ . . . That's all there is to it. If you can do
that, you can really pick up girls. By the truckloads!”

Do you suppose Weber really believes the only thing it takes “is to talk
to them?” Maybe the 25 beautiful girls he interviewed were in his wet
dreams? The “dimple” line and his others might work if a Tom Selleck
look-alike “strolled right up” and tried it. That's assuming the “chick”
could keep from laughing hysterically, an assumption very few men with
three-digit IQ's would make.
My copyright date 1987. Paul Ross’ book 1989. That’s after he bought
mine, called me and wanted to sell it to his buyers and asked some, shall
I say, self-revealing questions.
Paul Ross is a failed everything, but he is a good, no make that great,
self promoter, much like TV Evangelists. His claims are so absurd that he
is publicized, but always exposed as a phony, then ridiculed and
humiliated. I makes no difference to Paul Ross, because lonely, socially
inept men hear of him. Some are desperate enough to try anything, so they
give a fast-talking parasite their money.
Paul Ross is hiding behind a facade of self confidence he does not have.
I met him in person when Joanna, Andrea and I made a Body Language
Demonstration guest appearance at one of his seminars. In person he is
even more suspicious and revolting. Sweaty hands, bitten nails,
trapped-rat eye movements and body language. Common sense should alert
anyone who sees him that he is a phony.
He is partnered with a direct-mail specialist “Dr.” Yates Canipe. His
specialty was NUTRITION and VITAMINS? Yes!, I’m not kidding. No matter.
Those two parlayed the “Dr’s” direct mail skill into enough money to host
"seminars" by selling all of the junk books and tapes on dating
available. (The ‘Doctor’ is a retired Air Farce Major who was a
weatherman.)
Paul promoted himself and promoted himself but the WWW was his ultimate
vehicle. He can hide behind his keyboard and be outlandish and
outrageous. The WWW is THE place where the men he seeks live. That's
live, as in spend all their time there in a futile attempt at connecting
with someone, anyone. They stumble into Paul Ross who promises them he
will teach them HOW TO PICKUP GIRLS, by the truckloads. Not only will he
teach them, it is easy to do.
He holds himself up as someone who can do it, explaining, redundantly,
that he is not attractive, so it must be the “magic” words and phrases
he, as a paralegal, developed after reading some books by Anthony Robbins
and Milton Erickson. Why that doesn’t make “hustler alarms” ring in
people’s heads is beyond me.
