I should actually introduce myself properly as I have lurked for the past
few weeks and on occasion have posted in this NG. I'm a 48yr old french
Winnipegger.I have raised four sons, two(16 & 19) still at home and do
childcare in my home days, some evenings and some weekends, hence my
insanity. So, whenever the opportunity arises I run to my computer to lurk
this NG so I can be in touch with big people...uh...I mean adults.
So I wish all you terrific people who keep me from going totally insane(or
is it the other way around) the best in the New Year.
And yes, I do love chocolates so may I stay on?
Cheers! :-)

Hi Louise. Sure, stick around as long as you like!! Glad to have you
join us. Just one thing....did you say we were keeping you from going
insane??? That's the nicest thing anyone ever said about us, well at
least me. :-)

Louise,

Don't believe Di for a minute. She's hiding all the chocolate and
keeping it for herself. Any way, welcome. You can come to my house as
I received a nice big box of chocolates for Christmas. Yes, Di, you
can come too. (Quickly hiding some of chocolates for later :-) )

Happy new Year and welcome to our madcap group, Louise. Could you
resend the joke reference peanuts as I missed it?

Here is a big welcome to Louise and Janet from a Montrealer.

I joined this NG when it first opened its doors and since, my life
hasn't been the same... I'm leading a double life. I guess it's better
than no life! (G)

In the past four months, a lot has happened here. We've had many come
and go, some tried to change our faith, some tried to lure us, either
with their get rich quick scams or with sex, some made us cry, some made
us laugh, some made us angry, some made us want to quit and some made us
happy, and then there are the ones who have an identity crisis, so they
keep changing their name/signature.

We've had some philosophical debates and others, where after a while,
nobody knew what they were really debating about. We also had some hot
tips from Vegas, started a French class, got to know the most hated
food. There were also tips about cooking, salad dressings, and the
entire process of milking a cow including the pleasures of whipped cream
and the illustration of various sexual positions, which added a lot of
excitment, specially after the urology visits.

We've also had many events. We had few bonfires with flames blazing but
the sing alongs helped before the crowd got too rowdy. Once in awhile
we have court cases too but we settle them all out of court (private
e-mail that is). We went to few pet funerals, we saved few puppies and
did share the joy of seeing new ones born. It took us few weeks until
we finally got rid of that skunk odour and the rat that was trying to
chase the cats. We visited many places that had funny or unusual names
while blasting up our radios in our cars. Of course, you could have
always joined LinC's quiet bus tour. We had snow fights. We had BBQ's
where the men did the cooking. We had a pub opened up in Liverpool and
few of us got jobs while the others got drunk.

The latest craze is the chats where we party till the wee hours. In the
beginning, it was only on Saturdays, but now, it's every evening and
even in some afternoons. The good thing is that we could go to more
than one party or go to both at the same time.
I won't go into detail of what we do at these parties... you have to be
there! but no VCRs allowed, just in case some get too drunk and start
taking their clothes off. As you know, we don't want to ruin our
reputation by being cross-posted in alt.binaries.erotica.

Now, Louise and Janet, you can't say I didn't warn you. All you have to
do is walk through empty boxes of chocolates, peanut butter, booze,
feathers, cat litters and doggy poops; ignore the husslers and most of
it keep a smile (G) even if you don't mean it. Don't worry, nobody sees
your real face through their monitor, even if some claim they do.
However, try not to abuse of emoticons, we do have some fanatics that
cetain things drive them crazy. And one last advice: no matter how much
problems you'll have with your computers, please do not kick it, you'll
lose us all...!!!

Arsinee blessed us with:
Beautiful, Arsinee, just beautiful...you do have a way with words.

I, too, have been here since before the first message was posted...labor
had started, but the head hadn't crowned yet...but the excitement level
was high. Your post reminded me of many of the good things this group has
brought to my life.

Thank you,

Marianne

Arsinee, didn't realize you were a painter as well as a translator.
Don't know about the rest of the group but I think this is the best
verbal picture of a group of people I have ever seen.
