...haven't posted much recently. It's not pre-mature burnout, I've been
painting my kitchen. Now it's done at last. Looks really nice. I got the
yellowest yellow I could find.

And I must tell you this... the weather is really lovely here today. The
sky is blue and the sun is shining. It really uplifts the spirits. Hope it
is nice where you are.

Anyway, if you'll excuse me, I have some ironing to do.

Did you want your kitchen to look like the "sunniest" place in the
house? :)

We've had nearly three weeks of sunshine without rain - which is
exceptional in this part of the world. Unfortunately it was too cold
for a coffee in the garden, had ice on windshields some mornings.
Today is the first day with a cloudy sky and some rain is predicted :(
Enjoy your lovely weather!

Awwww, couldn't you come over and do mine, as well? I simply hate
ironing and only iron what's inevitable :)

Here in Texas, (Amarillo in fact) we are recovering from a tornado-producing
severe thunderstorm that was accompanied by tennis- and softball-sized hail!
The hail fell for over fifteen minutes, producing a rare "hail fog." I'm
assuming that the insurance adjusters are quite busy this morning, as cars,
windows, roofs, etc, all fell victim to the unrelenting icestorm. Winds were
clocked at upwards of 50 miles an hour.

As the hail clogged the sewer drains, and the torrential rain that followed
caused flooded streets, the lower-lying areas of Interstate 40 (Old Route 66)
soon became small lakes, and cars that had not had their radios tuned to the
weather channel or just plain did not heed the warnings, soon became stuck in
the rapidly rising water.

(Amarillo is about fifty miles away from us, so we just caught the upper edge
of the storm, and watched most of it on TV. But it's close enough that we had
dime-sized hail and very strong winds and thunderstorm.)

And do you know, through it all, I wondered, "Why is Karen throwing chunks of
Canada at us? I thought she was going to invade Arizona first!"

Weather is fine here too. (Ottawa) I was out in shirt sleeves on Friday,,
the first time since last summer. Just a tad windy yesterday.

Got my yard raked and ready to go this afternoon. Threw some grass seeds on
the front and some weed-and-feed in the back yard

I noticed the weeds in my back yard are already coming up too. They won't
last past the first sunny day..

Glad to hear that Karen's misplaced storm missed you for the most part and

Glad you are feeling uplifted John, I got that same feeling in the SW
of the UK just before Easter when the weather suddenly got lovely.
Back in Denmark the good weather arrived from England, and we have had
3 weeks of clear blue skies and sun, sun, sun ! :))) Sad to say, it
clouded over today, and now the forecast for the next week is, Rain,
rain, rain and more rain :(

At least the rain will stop the farmers doing rain dances, they look
so pathetic dressed in their best smocks, waving pitch forks at the
heavens.

I think you're talking about IBP - International Beef Packers. It's pretty
gross! The best thing is that it's way too far from us to smell. However,
here in Borger, we have the Phillips (66) Refinery that sure influences the the

Well, when I moved into this flat 6 years ago, I painted everything in safe
colours... magnolia in the living room, pastel green in the kitchen and
bathroom, etc. And now I want some colours that rock, hence the bright
yellow in the kitchen. I haven't decided on a colour for my living room

Well, all my ironing is completely evitable (except for weddings and
funerals). I think I have ironed for others though. In the past. A long

If your furniture looks as if it would look good on a hill under a tree,
paint the living room like the great outdoors. Blue and white ceiling,
patterned and feathered green, flowers on the walls, etc. There's no living
room police any more, John! Experiment. Paint's cheap. If something
doesn't work, paint over it with something else. This works only of you're
not married, though. <G>

Not always true. I used to paint our walls in many different ways. We
had cats and rainbows, frogs and trees with grasshoppers, windows with
cats looking out in out old flat. My husband never sad a word against
it it :)
Now we're living in the country side and own an old farm, so now
*outside* I have had my fun painting :) If we sit in the garden we can
watch our cow Malwina chewing some grass (painted on the wall of the
old pig sty) :))

No, not really - it depends on your furniture and most of all what you
would like your living room to be for you. A cozy cave? A hall of
light and wisdome? Akind of a good funtioning workshop or office?
You can never go wrong when chosing white walls - everything matches.
But it would never create such a cozy atmosphere as bordeaux red would
do ;)))

Sitting here replying to you.<G>

Seriously, I make Masterbatch (granules of highly concentrated colour
for colouring raw plastic.

No I am not Danish---YET !! I originate from the fair City of Bristol,
UK, a wonderful place with Britains worst traffic problems, an
exploding crime rate, no public toilets available at the main bus
station and beautiful surrounding countryside full of quaint cosy pubs
serving scrumpy !
I went to Denmark in the 70's as a disc jockey, later returning home
to a £30,000 tax demand, so I fled back to DK where I have been
trapped on a little green island ever since ! However, in case you
work for the Inland Revenue, I did manage to pay off the tax debt,
after a years quibbling, the final demand was reduced to £47.50 ! :)

So John, where in the UK are you situated, and what do you do there ?

Aw, come on! That's what makes things exciting! April through June is the
biggest tornado season around here. We got just a little bit of Katie's
storm here, too, but mostly just rain and wind. We had to collect our
garbage can lids from the next block when it was over, and the yard was too
flooded to mow (again!) so we are wading grass and clover over our ankles,
but the bright side is that my entire back yard looks purple and white from
all of the violets that are blooming.

Ahhhh...so that explains it! I'd noticed that a few of our igloos up
here had some ice blocks missing from them. I'll tell the insurance
people up here to put a tail on Karen!

Same here.

I haven't been painting. (I wish...this place could really use it, but
I just know if I spring for paint and labour, the landlord will end up
selling the house and I'll be moving again!)

It's been raining the past few days, but before that we had a week of
beautiful blue skies, and sun, and I know it will be back. The weather
is pretty balanced here. All of the blossoms came out on the trees a
couple of weeks ago, and we have a beautiful huge apple tree in our
yard, covered in white flowers (and lots of bees putting their stake
on them!). Walking downtown, the central park in front of the ocean
(across from where I work) is filled with Cherry trees, all encased in
pink blossoms, and there are Lilacs there, as well. Plus, there are
the most beautiful pink and purple flower bushes (have to find out
what they are!) Soon the Camelia and Magnolias will flower, and then
the Wisteria. Then, three seasons full of roses...many bushes have
long stemmed red ones, that are hanging out in the street...easy to
pick as you go by.

My BF brought me home a beautiful lavender coloured Hydrangea to
plant. I want to get a blue one, as well.

When we moved here last May, I stopped and smelled EVERY flower I saw.
What a magnificent display, after living in a province with a planting
zone of "3", and a short growing season. I saw flowers and trees here
that I thought only grew in Georgia! But we have a tropical climate
here, and SSI is known as the "Hawaii of the North".

It smells and looks beautiful and clean all of the time, and that
makes up for any hassle I have put up with here.

I was always taught that sniffing dandelions made you wet your pants.
It wasn't till a herbal kick years later, & discovering dandelion tea was a
diuretic that I made the connection. (Granny got things garbled sometimes)

You /do/ know that the only difference between them is soil pH, don't
you?

I can think of a lot of other exciting things I'd rather have around

can have the twisters.

Yes. But I only have one plant. I still need to get another one to
have two colours. So I may as well get one that is already in the
colour I want. :-P

You pour a little vinegar on the ground around a hydrangea and it'll be blue
before the week is out, and stay that way for a long long time.
