Have you ever been to the top floor of a skyscraper or other tall structure?

About 20 years ago, I went to the top of the Sears Tower in Chicago. I was
there with my in-laws (at the time) and nothing could convince them that I
did not need to go up there. I am terrified of heights. The top floor is
the sky deck and is floor to ceiling windows all around all four sides, with
the elevator (which has a jet engine, BTW and can get you up to the top in
about a minute and a half -- nearly throws you to the floor) and a gift shop
in the center. I didn't want to get off the elevator, but they made me. I
stood with my back to the solid wall next to the elevator for a while, and
then realized it was much more comfortable for me if I sat down, so I slid
down the wall and sat on the floor. Let those other fools cavort around by
those windows of instant death....

Yes. I used to work in business in Denver and my office was in a
skyscraper. One year, when we were in the superbowl, my building had a
"Superbowl Pep Rally" in the penthouse on the very top floor. That was
filmed by the TV news camera, to be shown that night. It was fun to be that
high up, but that was in a more innocent time. I don't know how I'd feel if
I was working in a skycraper now.

The highest I can think of was the St.Michaelis Church steple in
Hamburg - I loved the sight of the harbour from up there. But it's not
very high... My daughter was on Sears Tower in Chicago, and she keeps
telling me it's the highest building in the whole wide world :))

Certainly.

When you live in Toronto, it's almost obligatory to go to the top of
the CN Tower (tallest free standing structure in the world, although
it's not exactly a "building"). It's a good spot to take visitors on a
clear day, when you can see across the lake to Niagara Falls.

been to the top of the Blackpool Tower, and the Eiffel Tower. On the other
side of the pond, the Calgary Tower, a great place for breakfast, and the
Vancouver Harbour Lookout.

Does other tall structures include mountains? If so, Helvellyn and Cat Bells
in the Lake District, and Sulphur Mountain and Whistlers Mountain in the
rockies, Ok we cheated with those 2 and took the cable car :-)

Next week we may tackle Ben Nevis, sshh Ann doesn't know that yet :-) and
the week after so more high spots in the Lake Distrct
