Digest format?

A couple of comments on the message from Chris Stone :

We receive huge amounts of information from different lists some of it in
single message format and some in digest format - because we retain copies
of many messages for our library, we have real problems with sorting out
messages that come in digest format in terms of time, paper and disc space.

It is a great relief that most of the messages that come through on this
list are in single message format as it greatly eases our workload - and
presumably that of the person who so diligently forwards all these messages
on.

I guess a digest format is useful if you're skimming through looking for
items of interest - but when your work is making all this information
accessible for others then digests are a complete bane !
