When trying to restart my netbook running XP it only booted up part way
giving the usual desktop view with it's icons, but the toolbar were
mostly white, had their icons in place, but systray was incomplete
with many services not running. There was a Windows Defender error
message centre screen which stated:
"Application failed to initialize: 0x800106ba. A problem caused this
program's service to stop. To start the service, restart your computer
or search Help and Support for how to start a service manually"
I've tried rebooting several times but it still freezes at the same
point. I can't find out ho to start a service manually, but seem to
recollect that this is done by typing some command into the run box and
then running that. But I can't remember any such command. Your help
would be appreciated very much.
