I have a 2 two year old boy who has been diagnosed as ADHD positive. He is
very agressive and hits everyone he sees. He doesn{t pay much attention and
doesn{t sleep much.

He is now in treatment with a neurologist, but he is too young for Ritalin,
so he is taking Valpakine and Haldol.

Do you know of ways to help kids like him? I need to find ways to keep him
busy and get him tired. He gets bored of toys easily.

I have not been able to find anyone who{s kid has been diagnosed so early
with ADHD.

Please help.

Tried and true places with a calming effect on my very hyperactive (old term
for ADHD) younger brother.

Seashores,
scenic, excursion trains (open air coach)-Mom asked if she could buy tickets
for 20 yrs & live on the train with her son.
open fields to run in,
hills to climb.

All of these places offer a lot of fresh air and a whooshing, sound.

Everywhere else, that kid was a handful and his siblings wanted to give him
away.

BTW, the Feingold diet did not work for us. My mom never used additives
anyway and we had fresh vegetables, fresh milk and meat most months of the
year. Because we had a vegetable garden and grandpa owned a dairy farm. We
bought hot, fresh bread from Italian or Jewish bakeries made with no
additives.

Good luck

I think a 2 year old is too young to be diagnosed this way. All children
that age are hyper, short attention spans, not much sleep. And also I
wouldn't want my 2 year old on medication like that. I think you should
switch doctors or something.

I didn't think they COULD diagnose them this early? How can they be sure it
isn't just stages he is going through? What is it that he does that makes
them so sure it is ADHD?

How many doctors did you go to before allowing your child to be
medicated? These behavioral traits are quite normal for a 2 year old,
unless there's more that you've left out.

Suzanne:

This might sound like a bizarre question, but does your son suffer from
frequent sore throats? Does he have enlarged tonsils?

Whatever you do, don't waste your time with the Finegold diet. I
researched this diet as part of my work in a graduate course, and the
bottom line is there is no independently verifiable proof of its
efficacy with ADD/ADHD children.

I agree with the skepticism expressed by other parents about the age of
your child in relation to the diagnosis; it is very early for such a
diagnosis to be made. Search out other parents whose children are
properly diagnosed and find out who their physicians are.
