I have a friend who is raising her two granddaughters as a single
parent. She is having some difficulty with the girls because the
x-daughter-in-law is occasionally shows up to involve herself in there
life and then drops out again. She is drug dependent and more often
than not homeless. The girls seem to have a hard time listening to
Grandma and she is in a constant state of stress trying to get them do
to as they are asked. The girls are 9 and 7. Does anyone have any
ideas or input?

Karen....we really need to put our feelings regarding our own children
aside...what is important are the grandchildren. Many of our children (who
are now adults) have chosen to go a road that is not good....

Let's don't drag the children down with them. It is a very difficult
decision to do this...but for most of grands...we have to....no matter how
hard it is. The drug addicted parents can seriously hurt our
grandparents.....if we were the birth parents....never would we allow this
type of behaviour around our birth children when they were at this tender
age.
