In ancient times this was one of the types of "posession" they wrote about. I
don't personally believe in this. Sounds too much like a case of someone
developing a psychological obsession with a dead person...

You mean, like "All of Me"?
:-)
Someone had to say it...

Yes, I have heard of this. In fact a very good friend of mine's daughter had
such an experience. My friend, Paula told me that she had just moved into
a house and her daughter had started having someone "talk to her" or something
like that. It's been 15 years and I don't recall exactly what she said. But
she eventually found out that the house she lived in was previously owned by
a drug dealer and that he was violently killed just in front of the house.
They had figured out that he was following around her daughter and putting
pictures in her head, mostly sexually oriented ones. The daughter was about
four years old at the time, I believe. Anyway, he mother got some friends of
hers that were very able to talk the being into leaving and she was fine after
that.
There always is the possibility that what appears to be another being
"possessing" a person is just a type of automatic circuit in the mind
that simulates another personality. In fact this is the most probable
thing to happen. But a spirit can influence another person in a body
directly. It is just uncommon.

Are you refering to the the Id versus the Ego or is there some-
thing more to it? <when you speak of the other personality>
Please explain.

The most common thing similar to this would be when you have a song playing
over and over in your head. In the case of the personality it is a little
more complex, much more like a multiple personality, but it does not do
anything but talk to the person. It's sort of like talking to yourself. But
it would sound completely like another person. There are many historical
records of people having these "demons", I believe Plato or Socrates was
reported to have them.
Did that answer your question?

In modern times, this is also one of the types of "posessions" which is
described. One model of this belief stems from the belief that all matter
is just energy at various vibrations, upon death the spirit energy raises its
vibration to a higher level (decompression), however, before its vibrational
rate is increased, it may interfere with the vibrations of other energy
patterns (not all just animals) which are currently weakened (for whatever
reason).
This model has provided me with a foundation to understand the more
extreme personality disorders.
I personally believe that too many things get labeled as possessions than
actually are.
