Job Title: AWS Architect
Location: NC
Primary Skillset - EC2, EMR, S3, Glue, Redshift, Athena, Lambda, Airflow, KMS, RDS, VPC, AppFlow, , SQS, SNS, Step Functions.
Secondary Skillset - Tableau/Informatica.
Roles/Responsibilities :• Understand business goals and drivers and translate those into an appropriate technical cloud solution.
• Be the solution ambassador for AWS cloud solution, architecture, related technologies and their interdependencies.
• Create innovative solutions leveraging cloud platforms to solve client business challenges.
• Understand the existing architecture and pain points and realign design strategy to ensure ease of operation/performance.
• Understand the requirements, assess client capabilities and analyze findings to provide appropriate cloud recommendations and adoption strategy.
• Create conceptual, logical and physical design for cloud-based solutions for infrastructure and platforms.
• Research, analyze, recommend and select technical approaches for solving difficult and challenging development and integration problems.
• Learn and adopt new tools and techniques to increase performance, automation and scalability.
• Provides leadership in developing innovative service capabilities for AWS Cloud and in managing AWS capability projects.
• Review and provide both critical feedback and solutions to resolve AWS architectural questions/issues.
Required Qualifications (5 – 8 bullet points on must have skills)
• Experience in architecting data warehouse solutions for 15+ years
• Strong experience (8+) implementing Cloud and infrastructure AWS, Azure components (server, storage, network, data, and applications) to deliver end to end Cloud architectures and designs.
• At least 3-5 years of experience in working with Modern data pipelines using open source like Databricks, Pyspark or ELT platforms.
• Proven experience in working on cloud environments of technically complex, highly integrated enterprise environments
• Cloud experience, specifically hands-on experience in AWS - including S3, Athena, Redshift, Glue, MWAA, EMR, EC2, MySQL, Appflow and PySpark.
• Design and implement effective Analytics solutions and models.
• Understand the existing architecture and pain points and realign design strategy to ensure ease of operation/performance.
• Experience in participating in data modeling and in developing conceptual and logical data models.
• Experience with SQL and working with normalised as well as de-normalised databases
• Experience of developing enterprise grade ETL/ELT data pipelines with deep understanding of data manipulation/wrangling techniques
• Experience in applying Data Engineering best practices (coding, unit testing, version control, code review)
• Experience Optimizations including increasing Operational efficiencies on AWS while reducing overall DevOps costs
• Familiar with Pharma and/or Gilead IT ecosystem (US and/or International) is a plus
• Ability to root cause and fix bugs/defects. Review and provide both critical feedback and solutions to resolve AWS/Azure architectural questions/issues.
• Create Architectural standards and policy documents to socialize and align cross-functional teams.
• Strong communicator with the ability to work across business and IT teams to provide solution options
• Assists in identifying appropriate data sourcing and extraction processes, and in identifying and nominating sources as systems of record for data usage in various applications.
• Creation of descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics solutions using Azure/AWS Stream Analytics, Azure/AWS Analysis Services, Data Lake Analytics, Spark, Databricks.
• Help delivery team to create business friendly touchpoints/UI/Experience with the new AWS platform.
• Prior experience in working with Pharma (Life Sciences) Commercial data sets is good to have
• Experience in visualisation tools (like Tableau) is good to have
• AWS Certified Solution Architect – Professional OR AWS Certified Solution Architect – Associate
